Moby Dick was one of my go-to locations for delivery or takeout. Unfortunately, some recent changes have put this location from top of my delivery preferences to the bottom:
New takeout containers. This restaurant has very little seating, so the vast majority of their food is to go. However, the restaurant recently introduced a new takeout container that places the kebab, rice, and salad into the same container. Combining the warm and cold food essentially means that your salad is warm by the time you get home, which is not tasty or particularly good. I've tried adding order notes to please package the salad separately, but the restaurant ignores it. I will probably not be ordering from here until they either honor my notes or change this takeout container.
Fewer sauces. Around the time the restaurant introduced the new takeout containers, it also cut back to only one (yoghurt) sauce with most orders. The green chutney is $1 extra. Given the current very high prices for the food, this is a bit too much. Unfortunately, the chutney was the sauce that really added flavor to the dishes.
Overall, Moby Dick is expensive and recent changes have made it not worth my time when I'm...
Read moreGlad we finally have a moby dick. However, why is the bread SO bad??? I remember driving to Germantown for moby dick partially because the bread was made in house in their special oven. You could see them rolling it. Now, it reminds you of pizza crust you get in lunchables. Nothing like it was before. Seems super mass produced. Please bring back the old bread! Best thing on menu is the chicken kabob. I think it’s called joojeh. It’s grilled and has a very nice marinade. Get half salad/ half rice and it is a really good amount of food. The “pickled” garlic is very weird for my taste. They don’t take the skins off and it just seems like it’s garlic with like a balsamic vinegar poured on it. When I picked one a bit into it with the skin it was just so strange. It also has a flavor I can’t describe. I wouldn’t get it again. Sumac fries are just fries with some sumac sprinkled on top. They are always so mushy. Have to be reheated in air fryer or pan. All their sauces are also now mass produced at some location it seems - all are foil packed, etc. I think that’s good for safety but before it was all made in house. I guess this is what happens when it chains out to many many...
Read moreI haven’t had Moby’s in years, decided on it because from what I remembered it was pretty good…Unfortunately I was very disappointed to see how everything but the rice was completely different from what I remembered, the falafels aren’t even falafel, they changed them to a veggie patty made from chickpeas (SMH) and the pictures of the falafel they are promoting isn’t the falafel you get, doesn’t look like that at all, the bread was so tough and chewy, the salad dressing had a funky taste and the salad was not fresh. All the condiments were in pre packaged plastic containers. Nothing was as I remembered it and it’s sad. The quality of food went way down after they got bigger and more popular, that’s the opposite of what should have happened, more money should have went into higher quality ingredients not the same overly processed food products you find at your typical fast food place. Prices are ridiculously high for such low quality food as well. I won’t be back and I will warn others to stay away. Wish I could get my money back as I threw most of...
