Cafe 1908 — Restaurant in Baltimore

Just left this establishment at 7:25pm on 8/25/25, I ordered and ate the Chop Fish Wrap with French fries and a banana pudding. Wrap was off the chain!!!! Nice and seasoned well and the sandwich wasn't too runny. The only extremely difficult thing about this place is the cashier, extremely terrible service!! This guy is tall, dark skinned, and wears glasses. I cannot stress this part enough, this guy is the worst representative of any kind of public facing business or service!! Extremely rude, dismissive, obvious attitude and poor customer service. I asked a question or two about items in the menu because there's no ingredients or toppings listed for each item and he damn near broke his neck providing me an answer! The place wasn't busy but people were coming in and picking up orders every now and again. I'd like to support this business again but I want to never have another interaction with this sassy, attitude, person. There was another customer who came in while I was waiting and this same person I'm discussing had a bad attitude and interaction with her about ketchup packets, she asked if he was the owner and if there was a problem. The guy cooking and preparing the food was great, he was singing, and seemed to be in a great mood, unfortunately he wasn't the person taking the orders.

I recently had a disappointing experience with the customer service at Café 1908. I ordered a chopped turkey wrap, but after driving away, I realized I had received the wrong order—a turkey burger. I wasn’t upset and simply wanted to resolve the issue, but since I had already waited 40 minutes for my food and had to return to work, I decided to call instead. When I asked what time they closed, the person who answered was extremely rude, repeatedly yelling, “What did you get? What did you get?” I calmly explained that I had received a turkey burger instead of my wrap and just wanted to know their closing time so I could come back later. Instead of assisting me, she continued speaking with an aggressive tone and then abruptly told me, “Come back at 11,” before hanging up. When I called back, she ignored my call, and about 10 minutes later, another young lady finally answered. However, customer service is essential. I understand that work can be frustrating, but as a customer, I was simply looking forward to a good meal on my lunch break, only to be met with unnecessary hostility. My experience at Café 1908 was unacceptable, and I hope they address this issue because customer service truly makes all the difference. Even if I had checked my food then in there, it still would’ve been disappointed because I had no time to wait after waiting 40 minutes...

Let's start from the beginning. Parking can be difficult but not impossible, depending when you visit.

Anytime is a great time for me.

Cafe 1908 makes it convenient to order online using Toast and a few other sites, or you can call in. Either way, the food is ready pretty quickly.

There's always a sweet young lady who answers when I call in my order, and she gets it perfect every time.

Cool atmosphere upon entering and quick retrieval of food. Limited seating (4-5 stools against a wall shelf). I wish there was more seating so I could visit w friends and family. This business is 6 minutes from my job but 35+ minutes from my neighborhood, so it makes it hard to share w friends and family. I like to eat my greatness on site !!

So far, I've visited 4-5 times ordering the Catfish Sandwich and the Salmon & Shrimp Bowl. I absolutely love their Garlic & Herb Fries !! Perfecto !! The in-house beverages are top tier!!

I absolutely love this black owned business and will continue to support them as long as the consistency continues to stay at the forefront w unmatched customer service, quality ingredients, and generous portions.
