A bit regretting coming to celebrate my husbands birthday because even after mentioning it, it wasn’t acknowledged at all. Cocktails are very balanced , black manhattan and espresso martini were both delicious and beautiful. Scallops were ok but didn’t give elote flavor profile and the potatoes served with were ice cold like straight out of the fridge which was not expected, scallops were slightly overcooked. Rigatoni was quite tasty. Service was ok, we arrived right at 6 so there was a line but we were all promptly greeted within minutes of seating. But it was very “hello, sparkling or still, take your order, get you drinks, dessert, check” so pleasantries or personality. No mid meal check ins to see how we enjoyed the meal. No management was present. Later in the evening the two tables sat on either side of us went quite a while without getting greeted, the woman had to ask for service and was sat at a table not fully set. This didn’t live up to the hype or expectation, but it was enjoyable. Not noteworthy at all for a $250+ meal for a party of 2. They either need to step up their quality of service and consistency of dishes or lower the menu price point. I gave 4stars in hopes it was maybe an off night but I won’t be back. Too many great eats in the city. Would’ve been better off just having a cocktail at the bar and going elsewhere for our celebration. Also to add: the signage and website is off- they in fact were open on Tuesday and the steak night is $32 not $29 as the website states. A non issue for us but worth mentioning

I went here last night with a large group of people for my friend’s birthday and we spent over $600 after the auto gratuity was added. The food and drinks were good, and we had a great time. The service was very disappointing though. There was another server who was trying to help our server out by filling our waters, and our server snapped at her. Our server seemed like she really dislikes working here. We asked her for a wine recommendation and help picking dishes, and every time she just stared at us blankly. My friend who works at Applebee’s had to help out and ask, “what do people usually get?” And even then she just named it off without any explanation. I asked if she recommended the fish or salad, and she just said “I don’t like fish.” I spent $20 less by ordering the salad, but I might have gone for the fish if she could at least describe it. A friend of ours who doesn’t drink alcohol wanted to get a drink and asked if they had juice. She just said “no,” even though there were lots of juices in the cocktail menu and she could have suggested that they can make him a mocktail. My friend who wanted to go here for his birthday was pretty disappointed because he goes here on his own about once a month and said he always has great service. If we go again, we will ask for a different server.

Cookhouse is a welcome addition to Bolton Hill, providing fine dining in an intimate setting that mixes refined decor with some rustic touches, such as oil lamps on the tables. A welcome respite from noisier boites on "the Hill" Cookhouse represents a return to the kind of fare we've been missing since its predecessor on this spot — the "B" — closed a few years ago. The bar (an addition since the last incarnation) offers a wide selection of wines, beers, liquors, and cocktails. The menu is choice, with a handful each of snacks, starters, entrees, sides, and desserts — but it is easy to put together a smashing combo. Be aware that the portions of the entrees are generous (a 12 oz steak, two jumbo lump crabcakes, a ½ lb burger, a whole small chicken) so you might want to go easy on the appetizer and forgo the bread. It is possible for a vegetarian to assemble a full hearty meal as well; vegans may want to ask about inclusion of dairy.

My wife and I dined here after receiving a recommendation and checking out their website. We had plenty of options to choose from, but it was our anniversary and decided to give this place a try. We had a reservation and when we arrived, we were seated promptly however the service was incredibly slow. Our first round of drinks took about 30 minutes to arrive and during that time, no one visited our table. When the drinks arrived, we ordered an appetizer and told the staff we would be ready in a few minutes to put in our order for the main course. Also, at that time, the table next to us was seated. About 15 minutes after our appetizer was ordered and the table next to seated that table put in order for the same appetizer. They received their appetizer in about 15 minutes while we remained waiting. Again, another 30 minutes past between visits from our server, and when they did come back, we put in our main dish order and inquired about the appetizer. We even jokingly commented that I think it went to the wrong table. It took about another 30 minutes before our main course arrived and about 10 minutes after that, our appetizer was delivered just in time to interrupt our main course. We had also asked for a wine list when placing our main course order and that did not come out until the appetizers came out. We were hoping to end the evening with dessert, but decided to forgo that based on the experience so far. Also, our wine came out just as we were finished our main course. I understand every business goes through staffing issues, but we never saw a manager in the server, seemed very aloof to the situation as happening. I didn’t want to write this restaurant off as I realize that any restaurant can have an off day. However, the reason for this review is the lack of response from management. After I had a couple days to think about our experience, I reached out to management using the form on their website and expressed my concerns. They have yet to return a phone call, email or any type of response. When I have tried calling in several times, the number will ring a few times go to a voicemail which is generic and then does not allow you to leave a message because the mailbox is full. I really hope they get it together because the community deserves high-quality dining but if they continue to operate this way, I don’t see them being in business...
