Purposely looked to patronize black owned vegan spots while visiting Baltimore and found this joint on Happy Cow. This was our 3rd black owned vegan/ soul food restaurant for the day, apparently Baltimore is the home for black vegan restaurants. I ordered the one entree and one side combo and ended up getting the vegan ch-kn drumsticks and potato salad. The drumsticks were by far the star of the dish. I've had these drumsticks before but Dodah's treatment of them is by far the most delicious and memorable. The sweet potato cake was also delicious. The ambiance and decor are awesome. I would've taken more pics except that there were other people seated and eating so I didn't want to snap their pics in the meantime. I loved the green/plant walls. My biggest gripe was with the service. The person who prepped our food and cashed us out wasn't nice. I felt rushed, so they could get back to updating the chalk board they were writing on when we came in. I also didn't feel comfortable asking any questions because the one time I did, it felt as if I was an annoyance. Why is service the thing that stands out? Again, I had been to two other Black-owned vegan restaurants already for the day and the service received in both places was great. I felt like the people at the other two restaurants who serviced me wanted me to spend my money with them. The service here at Dodah's suggested that I had other options other than Dodah's. So I recommend the ambiance and the food here, but I recommend one of the other vegan soul food restaurants if you value good service with your food.

EDIT: they remodeled in the beginning of 2023 and the new layout makes a lot more sense! The service counter is now closer to the kitchen, and the dining area features a tall, bar-height area running the left wall and a few smaller dining tables. Fantastic, flavorful, fast-casual vegan food! I love Dodah's for the large variety they offer in flavor and in texture of the foods. I find that a lot of places with similar concepts all end up with a lot of the "same" textures or flavors throughout their quick-serve hot bars, but Dodah's hasn't disappointed me! We ordered a 1+2 entree and sides plus a vegan crabcake sandwich. I LOVE their general tso's cauliflower! The flavor has a great mix of sweet, sour, and savory over rice. A lot of my friends. LOVE the seafood mac, which is really creamy and filling! Their greens and sides are great too. We all shared the sandwich, which had a great texture and was packed with Old Bay style flavor. It's kind of salty for me to eat on the regular, but I enjoy it as a treat! My friends like the crab mac, which is vegan mac and cheese with old bay + spices. AND they have a ton of sweet dessert options! The cakes are moist and come in a lot of flavors :) You can even pick up sea moss here.

The seafood Mac was the only thing that made me give 1 star besides non bein an option. this is usually the spot I come to when I come to Maryland. Why did yall leave this Spanish guy that doesn’t know English he messed up my order twice after I gave him a tip saying “oh my god” after I told him that wasn’t my order. He act like he didn’t want to change it to the right thing. Good thing I ordered before the other 4 people that we after me bc he made the 3rd person order before he got to the person order that came after me I was waiting for dipping sauce for my dummies which I didn’t want it was the only thing available on the menu according to him no fish sandwich no oyster mushrooms and he took a walk in customer order and avoided my request smh who filled these cups up not even a full 2oz yall have to do better I’ve been here 6 times and never had this experience idk idk I drove 4 hours for nothin. Guess I’ll get full off this carrot cake and cheesecake oh that I had to show him the right one bc he put a different flavor than what I ordered 🙄

I have previously visited on numerous occasions- food is ok and I know what to order. So I am looking around for vegan meal prep since my meal prep person is no longer doing it. I ordered from website and it said that someone would call immediately following your order on line. Waited 2-3 days and I called and was told that I would get a call when my food was ready for pickup- he told me that it would be Tuesday. So you take my money but I am in the dark about when my order will be ready for pick-up no date or anything-I like to know and plan ahead of time to pick up my meals. Not good customer service and not what the website states. But I looked past that. Go to pick up my order and a guy is there and the lady behind counter. I have encountered her before and she has no customer service skills and should remain in the back end of the business. The gentleman asks about the steak and cheese and what it was made from she says to him "it is vegan" very abrupt and rude. On previous visits I have seen her be very rude and abrupt to customers and staff. She should not be in the front end helping customers ever. I think that was the last time spending my money here until the customer service issue is addressed. If she is that angry about her job she needs to find another line of work because customer...

This past week in two days I spent 100$ here. In the past few years since this location switched from grub factory to doodah we’ve spent thousands here. I moved from Pa to the Caribbean and still stop here whenever I come to MD to see my family. Personally feel like the portions are getting smaller, the quality is lessening but the pricing is high. Vegan food is becoming more prevalent so if someone is choosing to spend 16-20$ on a platter the least you can do is give them ac decent size portion. Example I don’t eat rice. So everytime I come here I literally have to make a choice to eat rice or get a small amount of pepper steak or cauliflower. I got ribs the other day, no rice I literally was starving within an hr because they give you no food. I ordered pepper steak… same thing. The general tso recipe isn’t the same it was so bad we returned it. The drunmies are so small you should at least give a person 5 . An entree is 3 Lil drummies? I felt robbed. I spent 70$ and was starving because the portions are bad. Also you should consider giving a person an additional side or a dinner roll, something that would make sense. Whenever I come I’m normally spending hundreds, 2 days in a row we had the same experience. Decent food, good customer Svc but I shouldn’t have to get rice to get...
