I went in for what I hoped would be a nice treat for my birthday lunch. I was excited to order a pastry but the guys behind the counter were less enthused. "This is what we have....." yeah, ok, but WHAT ARE THEY? Sorry, maybe I need a new glasses prescription, but could you maybe describe what I'm looking at? Or at least give it a name? I decided on some to-go cookies because I did not have to study to order them. They were the highlight of the visit.
I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and an iced tea. The sandwich was $20! It was quite large and very messy, so I only ate one half of it, taking the other home for another meal. I would have been happier to be able to order a half sandwich. The iced tea was ok - but nothing special. It was a mediocre meal at best and the experience with the staff as well as the prices were just major let downs.
I was a fan of Atwater's at this location, and was very sad to see them go. When I heard it was due to a rent hike, and they were to be replaced by (yet another) Atlas.... oh, excuse me... Atlas-Adjacent.... business I was not happy about it. After trying it out, I won't be back. Its still worth it to me to drive a few miles out of my way to go to Atwater's at Belvedere square.
"Atlas-Adjacent" means the business is owned by Smith family members - but not technically part of the Atlas group. Their "Family Values" seem...

1/5/25 update - came in at around 10 am on a Sunday, and it was chaos. They had run out of table numbers (the little flags for people dining in) and they either forgot one of our items or someone walked off with it (just a black coffee). There was competition for seating, and the overall vibe was "frenetic cafeteria." It eased up a little bit after 20-30 minutes, but I'm worried that they won't be able to keep up if this kind of interest/volume persists. The food is good (I inhaled the almond/chocolate croissant I got), but it won't bode well for future visits here if they can't keep up with orders, bussing tables, maintaining the floors and bathrooms, etc. Fingers crossed that they're working out the kinks at this new location.
1/25/25 update - I brought my own travel mug for my latte this morning, hoping that I could do my tiny part for the environment, and was told that they won't accommodate that kind of request. Disappointed to hear that. Plus, any sentence that starts with "Corporate says,"...
Read moreI went to Kneads this morning in Canton for breakfast and wanted to try their yogurt parfait on the menu. Never had it before so I ask “does it have nuts in it?” The lady who works at the counter said…”whatever it says on the menu is listed” - well, no nuts listed. I double check and say…okay im allergic to nuts so I wanted to make sure. All good.
I order it, take my first bite. Coconut. I had to confirm with other staff and they all were very aware the parfait has coconut in it. Super frustrating to say the least.
I can’t stress this enough. When someone says they have an allergy, take it seriously. No one cares that you need to ask someone for help and confirm.
The woman who took my order is always extremely curt and rude so not surprised she dismissed my ask rudely.
Luckily the two women who I brought this issue to were more than apologetic and tried to make it right by offering something else to eat.
Still have yet to get an apology from the women who could have sent me to...
