ORDER #151 - I'm so upset writing this review because I used to love coming here for Thai food. The last two times I was here were dissatisfying, but today was the worst that I will never come back here again. I ordered the Papaya Salad and Tom Kha Gai (my order number is 151 for reference), and they tasted so off. Like a lot of other people have reported, a lot of the dishes have been so inconsistent and had unbalanced flavors. It always tastes different now. There was WAY too much fish sauce in the Tom Kha Gai that I couldn't even finish it. The Papaya Salad was too acidic (much more than it should be) and I almost threw up trying to finish it. I had to throw away 90% of the food because of the overwhelming fish sauce taste. I'm Asian and I love fish sauce, but this was just too extreme. It sucks feeling like you wasted your money! Definitely was not worth the price. It was never like this before, so I'm disappointed by how the quality has gone down. I understand it's hard to keep up with high, busy demands and low staff, but I just wish the food was made properly. I would've rather waited even longer for a good dish than having already waited for a terrible dish. The workers seemed nice, especially the woman in the back. Sadly, I'll have to try Charming...
Read moreThe place: Thai Street is a counter service business in the Broadway Market food hall. The menu is displayed up above on a letter board and also on laminated sheets. There’s plenty of seating nearby and outside. On the Monday yesterday, Thai Street was one of few counters open which suited my tastes just fine.
The food: Everything on the menu is tempting. I selected pad see ew with a level 1 spice (for safety). Food came out quickly and hot! The noodles were perfect, slipping through the sweet sauce without sticking together. I could have gone a little spicier since level 1 was more sweet than spicy. The broccoli was not plentiful, but there was a good deal of tofu that was well cooked without being dry. The flavors were so scrumptious that I had to remind myself of our dessert plans to keep from licking my plate clean.
The service: Quick, efficient, and communicative. They took our phone numbers to text us when food was ready. I don’t think we waited more than five minutes. It seems that Thai Street does a brisk carry-out business as well!
Next time: I really need to get...
Read moreWe order through UberEats so don't have anything to say about the atmosphere. The menu was pretty comprehensive as Thai food goes. I usually order pad thai and yellow curry but we decided to try some different things. First, I tried the Tom Kha Gai soup and it tasted so bad we couldn't even finish it, way too much fish sauce and lacking the coconut milk taste. Then we tried the Khao Soi based on the reviews and description. The sauce was ok but the noodles weren't like egg noodles as I would expect, more like ramen. And there wasn't much meat in the dish. We ordered spicy level 2 and it was too spicy (and I like hot food). Last we tried Drunken Noodles based on the good reviews. I don't have anything to compare them to since this was my first time getting this dish but the noodles were so slimy I could hardly eat them. And the rest of the dish was lacking. I will definitely not be trying these again. The prices were above average but it is in a nicer location of town. Based on my experience I will be trying some other Thai restaurants before I return to...
