In many respects the work of a critic is simple. We risk very little, but enjoy a position opposite those who offer their work and their self to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism. But, the bitter truth that we critics have to face is that in the great scheme of things the average piece of garbage is probably more sensible than our criticism. There are times when a critic really risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unfriendly for new talents, new creations. The new needs friends. Yesterday, I experienced something new, an extraordinary food from a uniquely unexpected source. To say that both the meal and their maker have challenged my prejudices about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have shaken me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret for my contempt for Vicki’s famous motto: "Eat at the V." But I notice, only now I really understand what she means. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. Read moreReally good food but on two separate occasions I received horrible service. One day when I went to pay the lady behind the counter I placed the money in her hand and when I reached out for my change she put it on the counter and slid it to me which is very disrespectful. Against my better judgement I went back another day I sat down at 1:12 to a fairly empty counter my order was not taken nor did was I even acknowledged customers who came in after me and had a fairer skin color were greeted order taken and served and still no one bothered to take my order although I was sitting right in front of them. At 1:22pm I left and went to subway for a sandwich. As I said the food is very good but the subpar treatment I will never spend another dime in this racist...

He explained it was a restaurant. I replied " Never heard of it". He assured us it was good food at good prices. He was right!! A few days later I took my wife there she loved it! We went back with friends and we had a blast. Excellent taste, food looks great and the place is clean. The staff is hilarious!! Excellent value for one's money and serious quality . Vikki's has a history rooted in Fells Point and should be a must on things to do...
