We recently visited Chili's in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. We normally make the drive to Owasso, but decided to give the Bartlesville location a chance again. Obviously, this was a mistake. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas for his entrée on the 2 for $25 menu. He looked at the waitress and says, "I would like to add on some beef to my chicken fajitas, that's $2 right?" We have ordered this at least 10 times prior (at this Chili's and 2 other locations) and this was always the case. The waitress replies, "Yes, we can do that." She was very nice to us and our children. Our bill comes out and shows an additional $6.29 for meat. We address this with the waitress who then sends the manager because the waitress said she rang it up wrong. This manager was condescending, hateful, rude, and would not listen to what we said. She came out and rudely says, "You ordered extra food, it's an extra $6.29." I'm sure her problem with us was the fact that I am overweight so she felt she could talk down to me, as many people do because of my weight. We explained that my husband specifically said he wanted to add beef to his fajitas for $2, which we have done in the past and the waitress agreed. The manager replies hatefully that its $6.29 to add meat, it's always been that way. If we wanted the $2 option, we should have said "sub-out" so they would substitute some of the chicken for beef. I tried to explain that we don't know their specific vocabulary since we are not employees. I again mentioned that my husband specifically said the price of the option he wanted to the waitress and that if this was incorrect, this should have been said to us. The waitress even stated that she rang it up wrong. The manager didn't care. She wanted to treat us like idiots because her employee made a simple mistake. The fact wasn't that we couldn't pay for the meal. The fact was that something was rang up wrong by the waitress, who stated this multiple times. If this added on extra meat instead of substituting some of the chicken, we didn't know this. But because my husband said the word "add" instead of the word "sub-out" she wasn't going to do anything about it. I don't work for Chili's and never have, so therefore, I don't know their specific vernacular. Our evening was ruined because this lady wanted to spend 15 minutes arguing with a customer to give her some sort of weird satisfaction. We came to Chili's for a nice night out with our sons and by the time this lady was done trying to get her extra $4.29 (that wasn't even owed to her), our dessert had came out and was the ice cream was melted. I know she was discriminating against us because of my weight, and I honestly don't even really care about that. I do however, think it is ridiculous and pathetic to treat your customer's like trash because what we ordered was rang up wrong by...
Read moreThe reason I give the review a 3 is because of a particular young man.He decided to tell me that because I prefer, and ordered, just the drumsticks in my wing order that I had messed up his inventory. We ordered 16 drumsticks knowing that we would take half of them home, which we did. I would also add that this young man has long finger nails, which in my opinion were dirty. Not very appealing to have someone serve you your food with dirty fingernails. I do appreciate both Marquez and Skye for following up with me and listening to what I had to say. Their service is always outstanding. This young man said that he was able to serve me just the drumsticks tonight because his GM was there and approved it. He indicated that he would no longer be able to serve me drumsticks only because that messes up his inventory. Imagine how that made me feel. Thank goodness Marquez stated that I did not do anything wrong and that he would have a conversation with this young man. At no time did this young man make any attempt to apologize to us for what he said or for being disrespectful to us. When we left Chili’s he was at the front with some of the wait staff and still said nothing to us. Not even a thank you for coming in, come back and see us or have a good evening. Not one word! It appears that this young man has become a new manager. If so, I think Chili’s needs to send him to classes that will teach him the appropriate way to speak to customers. BTW, we go to other Chili’s and have never had an issue when ordering 16 wings, drumsticks only. Nor does the menu indicate that you are not allowed to do that. If customers are not allowed to order drumsticks only then perhaps the menu should be updated to say that. Thanks for...
Read moreI don‘t fully understand the intended demographic of the restaurant. I feel like I am not the intended target, but there are enough elements to it that make me feel comfortable returning. I will try to explain through examples.
The food choices are diverse, but they are all high-calorie. Usually I visit the “lighter choices” section of the menu (under 600 calories), but it only has about six options. It would seem that this chain is intended for people who would be comfortable potentially eating their entire day‘s recommended caloric intake in one sitting. I am thankful that they have something on the menu that I want to eat, so I can visit more than the first time, when I was shocked by what I saw listed. The high-calorie food probably tastes really good; the lighter choices are not as diverse or flavorful.
The walkways are somewhat small, so fitting children into a high chair in the space can prove a tad difficult at times. This makes me think that perhaps the restaurant is not necessarily family-friendly, but they do have crayons and high chairs for children, so it makes it easier for parents to bring kids, and makes me comfortable enough to return.
There are waiters around to seat visitors, serve beverages, and check up on the tables after a time, but the check can be paid with little terminals that are placed at each table. This is a great addition for me because I already am uncomfortable having someone else serve me, but because neither the terminal nor the waiter does everything, it makes for an awkward uncertainty about where responsibility of one ends and the other begins.
This is a good restaurant for very many people, but I enjoy other options in...
