I drive by this place every day but it did not look appealing to me, out of curiosity looked it up and read the reviews, I saw the pics from the inside, read the comments and it seemed like the owner is a great guy and makes everyone feel welcome, I am sorry to say that the guy who was working the bar when I visited today, did not care one bit about me and my friend, I asked "what time do you close" and twice he pretended he did not understand me, I may look foreign but I probably speak better English than him, finally he said 2am, and sort of mentioned the had 1 side for great whiskey and the other side for great tequila, so I went and got my friend who was outside in the car, we walked in and the barman walked out of the bar and started flirting with a group of ladies sitting at a table, singing, we gave him some time to do his thing, but it took forever, a lady was sitting at the bar waiting for service but Mr. Popular was too busy to give her a beer, another guy entered the bar, probably the owner's son, and he just looked puzzled, he would look at us, look a the lady sitting at the bar then look at the bartender, like he did not know what to do!, we waited a few more minutes the blonde lady at the bar started raising her voice asking for a beer, the nice guy at the bar just kept looking at the bartender singing with the customers, "What's going on " if I remember correctly, then looked at the lady at the bar, looked at us at one of the tables, and then back at the bartender, but he never asked us if we wanted something to drink, I would have waited if he did, so I asked my partner, should we leave, the answer was "Yes" and so we did, the place looked great, it is a shame to leave it in the hands of someone who doesn't...
Read moreWhen I first saw the gaming signage on the front of this place I thought it was another one of those gambling places that are often named after women like Betty's or Stella's. I later learned that despite the cheesy signs, On The Rocks is a legitimate whiskey bar with a huge selection of spirits. The atmosphere is clean, spacious and classy. There is plenty of bar seating as well as a variety of soft chairs and couches. The gaming machines are tucked away in a side room that is easily ignored if that is not your thing. This is the kind of place that Bartlett really needs. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. Good whiskey is not cheap but the prices at OTR are reasonable for a 1 ounce pour. This allowed me to enjoy new ones without committing to a whole bottle. I was a little surprised that when I asked for water to back up my whiskey neat, they gave me a plastic bottle. I hate drinking out of those things. I also ordered a pizza. It was surprisingly tasty and I would get it again. After enjoying a few drinks and a snack I was ready to go. I was disappointed that I did not receive an itemized bill. The bartender did review my orders to ensure that it was correct, but then I was presented with one of those machines that shows a total and "helpful" tip amounts. I know that I am old school and those are the modern way of doing things, but I don't like not knowing the details and being watched while I settle up.
Overall I enjoyed my first visit to On The Rocks and I look forward to...
Read moreGot friends together and reserved space for my husband's birthday! He's likes whiskey and loves Uncle Nearest. This place had 5!!! The employee, Dru and Steven were literally amazing! Dru set everything up for me. Steven was the best bartender! The owner was a bit weird about how he talked to me as a woman, but I believe it was a cultural thing. He offered to take our picture and tried to have all women sit on one side apart from the men. Otherwise the experience was amazing and I'd definitely...
