Everdine's Grilled Cheese Co. — Restaurant in Batavia Township

I really enjoyed my sandwich from Everdine’s today. The service was also excellent. I’m visiting my hometown of Batavia and was at the library across the street earlier when I noticed this new grilled cheese sandwich shop. So I came back for dinner. I didn’t know it when I walked in, but there were only less than 10 minutes from closing at 8 PM.

Having worked in the service industry, I know that it’s often not appreciated by staff at restaurants if you show up that close to closing. That was not the case here. Of the three employees I saw this evening. They were all very kind, understanding and diligently working.

I took my sandwich to go and ate it outside of the shop on the curb. One employee came out to retrieve the street sign and asked me how the sandwich was and if it was my first time at the restaurant. It was a great sandwich and he was the one that made it. A few minutes later, as I’m finishing my sandwich another employee comes out the cashier with the bag of chips that I forgot to take.

I didn't realize a grilled cheese sandwich could be so incredible. I would describe the sandwiches as a sort of loaded grilled cheese. You can choose your bread which is a nice option. My wife and I got a Reuben and the Al Pacheesno sandwich with the tomato soup dipper which I have to say is a great pairing. Refillable soft drinks is a plus, and chips are available. We got one side of chili cheese topped Mac and cheese and it was so tasty. The sides are well thought out, creative, yet very accessible. I loved the Naperville location when I lived in that area and I am share the same excitement as so many others that they’ve chosen to come to Batavia as well. I stopped in today and was excited to see it’s much more spacious than the Naperville location. The food was every bit as delicious, and the service was wonderful. They just opened and you can tell how hard everyone is trying to make sure they run smoothly. A grilled cheese restaurant may sound trivial, but this is comfort food done extraordinarily well.
