We ordered take out from WindMill Grille & Pizzeria in Batavia twice. The “garlic mashed potatoes”, had no garlic and was extremely tasteless. The pork tenderloin sandwich was missing the mayonnaise and over cooked, very dry and hard to chew. The second time we ordered 2 of the “Juicy Lucy Burgers” well done. The description of the burger on their menu states it is stuffed with a four cheese blend and grilled so that the cheese is melted inside. When my wife looked inside the burgers there was no cheese inside. Instead the inside of both of the burgers was raw and unappetizing. When we called the restaurant, one of owners just gave us excuses. She said that they no longer make the burger like that because people complained that it was too bloody and the web site and their menu needs to be updated. Also, she stated that the person who took our order over the phone must have not heard us well; even though the female on the phone taking our order, repeated the order back to us. Their hand cut French fries were also raw and not cooked all the way through. She made us 2 new burgers, when I got there they were already in a bag knotted at the top. When I got them home one of the burgers’ buns was burnt. My wife who showed me the burnt bun and we called and left 2 messages on their voicemail and nobody bothered to call me back. Another reviewer stated that “something off organizationally”, after what I saw; they are not off in their assessment. We gave them several opportunities to correct the many, many mistakes that they made, and they failed miserably. Don’t waste your time and your money at this horrible, rude, and disgusting restaurant. We hope that the chamber of commerce does something about this terrible restaurant, so nobody else has to have such a horrific experience...
Read moreI grew up working at an Italian deli and cafe with Italians from Brooklyn, NYC. The food here was okay/mixed, but not the best Italian food I've tasted. The owner was very nice and attentive, but definitely completely unaware of her own implicit racial bias. Among other things, she was surprised that we were from "the city" and kept talking about how the main difference between the food in "the city" and her food was that the food in Chicago is "exotic," whereas her food was "traditional" and made by a proud "European," despite sharing that she was from the Midwest, not Europe. It was oddly clear that our being from Chicago was surprising/uncomfortable for her and that she viewed Chicago/BIPOC food/culture as strange/unfamiliar or "exotic" food made by people from strange/unfamiliar or "exotic" communities that did not quite stack up to her food/culture. She wasn't rude or anything. However, the main dishes were just okay and the ignorant comments were cringy. The best things were definitely their gigantic Midwestern sized Tiramisu, the Lavazza coffee, the bread they served as an appetizer, and their window facing views of Batavia and Fox River. Not a horrible experience, but also not one that I would repeat despite having an interest in further...
Read moreI had dined there for lunch last week but didn’t grab any photos so didn’t review. Lunch was AMAZING ! We had the most attentive and informative BRAND new server - made the experience even better.
This evening went for dinner - 4 adults & a 2yr old.
Tonight our server was “off” - young - not the greatest - not really engaged. She’d disappear for long periods of time - forgot to tell us about specials in blackboard until we asked and tried bringing us the bill without asking if we were interested in seeing the dessert menu which we were.
This is a family run business where owners are engaged and truly interested in making you feel welcome. All homemade & freshly prepared meals.
The Brussels sprouts were out of this world great!
Our meals were good and the price points seemed to be on the low side for today’s pricing.
I’m going to give them another try for a pizza & salad lunch as that was crazy...
