This was our first time going to this restaurant after several friends recommended trying it out. We loved the menu of traditional Creole dishes with a bit of a flair towards gourmet. The food was very flavorful and the presentation was appealing. Definitely like the Boudin Balls that were crispy outside and moist inside with the ingredients blended together. We also had the Fried green tomatoes that were also very good and had a different twist with the sweet spicy bacon jam. The Alligator bites were tender and not dry like many we've tried before, and the glaze sauce on them was really good. The biggest favorite was the pork debris and Andouille sausage eggrolls which were crispy outside and fantastically flavored inside. They had sauce to dip but they were so good we didn't really use much of the sauce. Will be ordering these for sure on next visit. After eating so many Tapas we had to split the entree which was the creole blackened fish of the day. It also was good. Waitress named Sammy took care of us and did an excellent job and was very attentive. Will ask for her next time. Definitely tipped her over 20% for her pleasant personality and being so on point!! --- The only Negative was there was a $5.43 fee if you used your credit card to pay with.....but no fee if cash used. In these days hardly anyone carries cash so...........Let's just say I have a business as well and I claim transaction network fees like this on my business cost of operations and never charge it to my customer. Not a deal breaker as we will be back for the great menu options but will be prepared with...
Read moreWas visiting Baton Rouge last week for bowling nationals and we wanted to have a large group dinner with our friends. We made our reservations a week in advance and the restaurant was more than accommodating! Our group of 19 was seated at 2 tables, but very close together. The atmosphere was homey and welcoming, with a great vibe. My only complaint is the music was just a little too loud. The staff was amazing, paying constant attention to our tables. Our water glasses never went dry, and the cocktails were perfection. (let's talk about that decaf expresso martini! I didn't even know it was possible to make a decaf one) Now on to the food....I cannot compliment it enough. It was amazing. The presentation, the flavors were spot on. I personally had the redfish cecelia, blackened. It was served on a bed of corn grits, and topped with a very generous portion of crawfish etouffee. Others in our group had the steak, jerk fried chicken, pork tenderloin, seafood pasta, short ribs, and the special which was salmon. All but one said theirs was perfection. Her salmon was overcooked and a little too dry. Others who had the salmon said theirs was perfectly cooked. Ending the meal with the white chocolate and blueberry bread pudding...again another amazing dish. Appetizers of alligator, boudin balls, and pork belly were also a huge hit. We are still talking about how great the meal was. I've been telling everyone I know who will be bowling in the Nationals tournament to make their reservations now. 10...
Read moreMy husband and neighbor came to your restaurant on 4/29 after hearing about the great food and atmosphere. We arrived between 730-745pm where we were greeted by a young lady and asked for a table. She asked if we had a reservation to which we responded no. She indicated we would need a reservation to dine and that it was about a 45 min wait without one. My neighbor, who had been there previously mentioned to her that she's been there before and it wasn't suggested. The young lady responded by saying, "Well this is a restaurant!" We looked at her dumbfounded to which she doubled downed and said it again. While walking away she stated we were welcome to wait but she didn't have any room for us to wait. Still surprised at the interaction, we searched for other places in the area. She then gave us suggestions nearby. Totally confused by the turnabout from earlier. It was at that point we left. After being in the industry myself, I've never experienced anything like this. I understood the part of not having a place to wait, however it does NOT excuse the behavior of this employee. Not sure if she was having a bad day but I find this inexcusable. Not exactly what we expected. Just wanted to bring this to your attention in the hopes this can...
