Update: I still regret this hotel selection that put a damper on our mother-daughter trip. It wasn't a good location or fit. BUT Kaylin did respond to my customer service complaint. I appreciate that immensely. I remain disappointed in the stay but I think it is important to note that she did respond to me in a professional manner. When we arrived around 3pm, our room wasn't ready so we left and returned after 5pm. We got up to our room to find the only lights were one bedside lamp and a green reading lamp. The holes where the lights should be are capped off. The windows face a weird interior wall with other windows but not a lot of natural light. (Picture a narrow alley but within the building.) Maintenance was sent to see about lights so we waited until after 6 to settle in. He was nice and agreed that the room was dark. He said they were not busy so we could be moved. But when I returned downstairs, the front desk said that the only option had a single bed and we'd have to check back in the morning. We took that option thinking it had light. But instead found a much smaller room with the same lighting issue. This room had a dirty shower, stained toilet, no toilet paper or bath mat, and an empty water bottle on the floor. No big deal...if it had light. I called customer service and was told I'd need to contact another number to get this resolved somehow. I feel like the staff here are aware that the rooms lack lights and pretend it is a new issue. The walls are dark purple. It really messes with my eyes and makes my head hurt. They didn't offer to provide lamps. We have another night here, but wish we could have been able to reach someone to cancel. The second number put me on hold. After 7, I gave up and decided to get dinner. It seems ridiculous to me that we have to negotiate to get a room that has lighting installed. You may like this if you are traveling as a couple...dark purple, low light, animal prints...a strange choice in a government building area. No bar on Sunday or Monday either. It is hard to understand what vibe this hotel wants to go with. The pictures are max light. All options on and shades up. Never stay here when traveling...
Read moreAfter a long travel day, we arrived at the Orgin Hotel. It was 12:45 a.m., and we waited for the attendent to come. The doors were open and her purse was visible. We search for the attendant for about 30 minutes and after awhile my boyfriend finally went to get our luggage, while I called the front desk several times. No one answered the hotel's telephone. The front attendant finally showed up, after another 10 minutes, and she told me that she was outside in the vallet parking lot. I thought this is interesting and very odd. I then asked the attendant," Is it safe to leave the doors open?" She quickly replied," It's a safe area and I close the doors at 2:00 a.m. "The attendant promptly checked us in, put some purfume on, lotioned her hands and we left to our room. This was the first incient.
Today, I reached out to the front desk to ask for my room to be cleaned. The front desk attendant was very nice and noted my request. After I went out and returned to my room, a few hours later, I found my room the same condition that I left it. I returned to the front desk to inquire about the reason why my room was not cleaned and the attendant replied, " The housekeepers already left for the day." Subsquently, the maintence person dropped off my clean liens and I completed the above task myself. I can tell you that I have traveled all over the country and internationally and I have never had to change my own liens. This was a the second issue that I had within a 24 hour period! I will never return to this hotel in spite of the warm and pleasant feeling that I received from the staff, with the exception of the "ghost attendant" who greeted us at the start of our much needed vacation. I would give the other staff a 5 out of 5. Last, I normally would not write a review, but this experience was forced me to act and...
Read moreWe were in Baton Rouge for a graduation in May. My father booked and paid for our stay at Origin. We landed in New Orleans later in the evening and called the hotel to inform them we were driving to BR and would arrive later that night. I inquired if we would need to provide a credit card upon check-in (I know most hotels we've stayed in asked for one) and was told no, the bill had already been covered. On the way to the hotel we decided we would eat at the hotel's restaurant (Passe) since it was late and we were tired from a day of traveling. I even reviewed the restaurant's menu online and double-checked their open hours. When we arrived at the hotel not only were we told that the hotel's restaurant was only open for breakfast (which was not indicated on their website), we were also asked to provide a credit card (after they explicitly told us we wouldn't need to less than an hour before). This left us scrambling to find a local restaurant that was open late on a weeknight. We were given a parking pass for the hotel's lot, which was completely full (only 15 parking spaces for an 89-room hotel). We ended up having to pay for street parking. The hotel room was clean, but the air conditioning was not sufficiently cooling the room the first night, which left us very uncomfortable. We ended up purchasing a small fan the next day, but the room ended up being frigidly cold the 2nd night, even after we tried to adjust it. On the last night of our stay we were awakened at 4am by two drunk women brawling in the hallway outside our room. When we went to check-out the next morning, we were charged $56.70 for parking! We were only able to park in the hotel's 15-space parking lot ONCE during our entire 4-day stay; we had to pay for street parking the remainder of the time. Personally, I wouldn't...
