I was traveling in the Baxter area for work and staying overnight. I searched the web for places to eat. My 1st choice was already closed by the time I had wanted to eat supper. So since I had looked online and did read reviews, Poncho & Lefty's did have some good ratings. I decided to do a to go order. I asked the hostess a few questions pertaining to the menu item that I was looking at ordering, she could not answer the questions and had to go get her manager. The manager, answered my questions and took my order since this is what I decided to order (taco burrito but with steak instead of the beef that is normally served with it) along with beans and rice for extra. I received my order, asked for some hot sauce(the hottest sauce they had), the manager was really of no help, it didn't seem like they really had anything HOT and authentic. The bartender suggested something, gave me a sample, (something sweet Habenero) I questioned if it came from a store at the MOA, (it looked like something I've purchased at a store at the MOA....nope the bartender himself said...(could be purchased at the local Cub Foods grocery store). Please don't tell me you are getting the hot sauce from a grocery store, make it!!! The steak I requested was very chewy, sure didn't seem like carna asada, the beans tasted like they came from a can, topped off with cheese (melted). I wasn't carded for the beverage that I purchased, (to me a big NO NO) then the bartender almost forgot to have me pay for it. This will probably be my 1st and only time at...
Read moreMyself and the wife went to ponchos for dinner as she had never been here and I have had great experiences in the past (over 3 years ago). We got there and were greeted promptly and given chips and salsa. But everything after that went down hill. Waitress barely came over to check on us, got our appetizer out 1 minute before entrée after waiting 40 plus minutes, mind you it was just a dip, came out cold and super watery. Wife's food was all correct but barely warm mine was missing refried beans and rice and mine was also barely warm. Took another 10 minutes to get the beans and rice. After this my appetite and patience was lost. Again had to wait for check and to-go boxes which I only got by asking the hostess. Upon paying the comment I received was "it got really busy really quick" restaurant was not even half full and we were sitting right by the door seeing very few come in. Then on my close to hour drive back home I immediately got sick about 15 minutes from home and had to stop. Once home I continued feeling like crap. Myself and wife had to throw away our leftovers as we couldn't trust eating them after that. Really disappointed in the negative turn around of a place I once really enjoyed. Ponchos, please address this and fix the issues I know you can fix this. No need for refund or anything, I just hope you read this and know this can't happen and...
Read moreThis is hands down the worst Mexican restaurants my family of 6 has ever been to! Upon first walking in we were greeted with filthy floors with food scattered about. The service was very slow and not very attentive. Pop was flat. I myself typically order a chimichanga from Mexican restaurants, however this place didn’t include the rice and beans on any of their meals, which were already overpriced as is. The chimichangas were like 15.99, plus 2.99 for rice and beans, and if you wanted it topped with queso (which I do), that was another $3.99!!! So total my meal alone would have been near $23, where other restaurants are $13-16 for the entire platter including rice and beans. So I opted for a more affordable chicken wrap, which wasn’t good. My son tried it and said it tasted like the way cigarettes smell. Another kid got a taco and the meat was absolutely disgusting. Think mushy canned pet food. My entire family of 6 all felt the same about our food… gross, flavorless and overpriced. I knew we should have just left the second we got cold chips delivered to our table and seen the prices. If we hadn’t already ordered drinks and had a guest with us, we definitely would have walked out and...
