This was posted on Facebook today by Andy Walsh of Brainerd: AWARENESS ALERT Today, September 8th, 2017 I went to KFC in Baxter at 5:30 p.m. to get my family dinner and I decided to use drive through due to my ongoing physical pain. I typed out the order on my cell phone. Waited for my turn then I showed my cell phone to the person who does the payment and all that. She REFUSED to serve me. Why? I'm Deaf. But I'm still a paying client and only one client behind me. It was not busy. I told my wife and she suggested we go elsewhere. But I wanted the chicken because our daughter loves their chicken. So I went inside to order and address the employee. I motioned to the employee to come over and talk with me. I wrote out the note saying that it's not fair others can but not I. She wrote out "new system, not my". ('not my fault') Then she started to walk away and I snapped. Motioned to her to come back. She came back with an attitude (facial expression). I said, "You are wrong." (Short version for her being not fair to me and my family. Discrimination) The reason I'm sharing this is not for you to pity me. I am who I am. The reason is to share with you so you'd have knowledge of how the KFC business is not following the ADA law. Not being respectful to one of the Brainerd citizen. Paying client. This is not acceptable. So be aware. Educate yourselves. Educate your family, neighbors, and so forth on... Learn how to behave properly when someone is somewhat different than the mainstream society. Be respectful. And please be patient with the Deaf people or those with hearing loss. It is cumbersome having to write out all spoken words onto paper or cell phone. Yet it is the communication means. Thank you for reading my...
Read moreThis KFC is under new management as of July 2017. Has been cleaned top to bottom and food quality greatly improved!! KFC in Brainerd has been closed.
Dessert is limited to a canned apple filling mixed with bread pudding in a heated tray or chocolate pudding. Sometimes the veggies look & taste like 2 day old leftovers. Biscuits sometimes hard as rocks, but replaced when attention was called to it.
Update 5-25-2018: Buffet is closed for remodeling. I hope the owners upgrade the selection of buffet items as well instead if even more takeaways. I sure do miss the cherry cobbler.
Update 6-18-18 Downgrading one star for buffet downgrade. Less choices and no choices for dessert except choc pudding or bread pudding. No more cobbler! Will see what happens after the remodeling and reopening...
Update 7-4-18 Buffet is back. Selections are the same, but food was noticeably more flavorable. They must have replaced or upgraded some cooking equipment. New roomier layout is nice with new furnishings. My only complaint is no hot water in the restroom. Both sides of faucet are connected to very cold water. Makes me wonder if employees are actually washing their hands properly before returning to work. 10-13-2018 Update: Hot water is sometimes on in restroom, but not always. Do employees wash their hands in ice water? 11-22-19 Still no hot water in the restroom with both side of the faucet connected to the cold water side. Dessert selections aren't too bad with addition of canned peaches and pineapple. Potato salad was...
Read moreWe went through the drive thru and the food we got was luke warm and had been sitting for hours. We sent it back three times and every time the food was the same. I finally went inside to talk to the manager as I just had surgery and he was extremely rude and told me they are on a 2 hour schedule with food. He as raising his voice to me and I told him to stop being so rude. If I order food, I expect it to be fresh, not sitting for two hours. I will NEVER go to this location again!!! Terrible customer service and the manager was the rudest I’ve encountered at a business. I asked for the General Manager’s info and he wouldn’t give it to me and said he IS the GM. If I owned this business, this man would not be working for me and would lose his job! I ended up asking for our money back and he gave it to me and slammed his till drawer. ...
