Decided to give this place another chance after my first visit was not so great. I figured it was probably due to staffing during Covid (3 years ago).
Went there Saturday with a few people. Ordered some drinks at the bar and started a tab while we waited for seating for dinner. Food was good, and the service was decent.
For some reason, they ran my card twice for the same amount. One can only assume, the bar tender did it, and the waitress did it. Although, neither communicated with me about it. No big deal, I figured it would fall off in a couple of days. As of yesterday(business day 3) one was completed and the other was still showing pending. Decided it was time to call to see what was going on. Hostess answered, I explained the situation, she said she was getting the manager. She came back a few minutes later to tell me the manager said it typically falls off in 3 days, but since this was already the 3rd day, just call back tomorrow if it’s still there. She didn’t take my call information down, they didn’t doublecheck the system, just gave me a canned response, and then they hung up.
Obviously the manager was super busy and couldn’t take a moment to research or explain it herself.
Well, big surprise, it’s day 4, and the double charge is still there. As of now, I have a restaurant that is holding an extra $229 out of my account (total of $458). I am grateful that my financial situation allows me to continue about my life without a $229 extra charge putting me in a bind. Not everyone is that lucky. So I’d expect them to act like they were just a little concerned.
Now, the inconvenience of having to call back there and again explain the situation is on me, instead of it being on them to monitor and follow up with me.
Long story short, I understand mistakes happen, but when it’s brought to the attention of the person in charge, you expect them to own it. I’d assume if $229 was missing out of her check, she would expect the restaurant to handle it quickly.
update
9 days later, still no change in the transaction. I see the company’s response claiming they “processed a refund”. Crazy it’s the first time I’ve heard this. I was told it wasn’t an actual charge and would just fall off, now it was a charge and you refunded it.. hmm… Looks like you are more concerned about a google review than actually resolving the issue.
2nd update Manager reached out on Monday letting me know there was nothing they could do, but wanted to know how she could help. (Yeah you read that correctly). Mentioned the review multiple times. Seems to be their only concern.
12 days since being double charged and still...
Read moreFor the past 5 years 200 North Beach has been our go-to restaurant and the place to which we bring guests when we want them to experience the best of BSL. Tonight was our first opportunity in many many months for dinner out, so naturally we went there, thinking it would be a sure bet. Sadly, we were very disappointed. The menu has changed, the prices have gone up, and in our opinion, the quality has gone down.
First, why in the world stop offering 2 of the 4 types of oysters you’ve always had? Oysters North Beach and Oysters Rockefeller are both gone from the menu, and that’s just sad. Oysters North Beach were always so popular they very often ran out. The prices on both the raw and the Charbroiled (the only 2 remaining choices) have gone up, and the Charbroiled are now doused with some type of hot sauce that we really didn’t care for. The raw were delicious at least, but there’s not too much of a recipe involved there.
The entire menu is new, and with many of our favorites gone we had a hard time making our dinner choices. I went for a shrimp po-boy since I was feeling a bit apprehensive with all the changes, and honestly, if I made a mistake I preferred it to be a $15 mistake rather than a $30 mistake. The po-boy itself was great (especially the bread) but I do have to question the ridiculously small serving of French fries (which were also good) that came with my sandwich. I mean for $15, considering the price of potatoes, you could probably double the number of fries and still be doing ok on your profit margin.
My husband decided on the $30 veal T-bone and he was disappointed. It was thin, unimpressive, and he thought it tasted like a very average pork chop. The broccoli underneath it was cold and the entire dish was not worth the price.
The bill for our first dinner out in what seems like forever was $115 before tip, which under normal circumstances we wouldn’t mind. Eating at 200 North Beach has never been an inexpensive dining choice, but in the past we’ve felt it was worth the money. We've actually never had one negative thing to say about the restaurant. But considering fewer good choices on the menu, higher prices, and lower quality, (plus the fact that my dinner tonight was no more than a sandwich!) we definitely were not happy with tonight’s experience. We’re feeling more than a little sad that our favorite BSL restaurant has...

Extremely Disappointing Experience
As a traveler on vacation with my family, I am deeply saddened to share our horrendous experience at this restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit was tarnished by food poisoning and abysmal service.
Firstly, the food served to us resulted in severe food poisoning. Shortly after consuming our meals, my wife and two sons fell ill. This not only ruined our dining experience but also caused us significant concern for their health and well-being.
Adding to our disappointment, the service we received was nothing short of a nightmare. The sta! displayed a complete lack of attentiveness and professionalism throughout our time at the restaurant.
To exacerbate matters, the co!ee we ordered was stale and undrinkable. This only added to the overall negative experience we had at this establishment. I feel compelled to write this review to warn others about our unfortunate encounter. It is imperative that management takes immediate action to address the food poisoning incident and ensure the well- being of its patrons. Additionally, a thorough evaluation of staff training and management protocols is necessary to improve the overall quality of service.
As customers, we expect not only good food but also exceptional service. Regrettably, our visit fell far below these basic expectations, leaving us with an incredibly sour impression of this restaurant.
I truly hope that this review serves as a catalyst for change and prompts the necessary improvements to prevent such incidents from occurring again in the future.
Please be cautious when considering dining at this establishment. Our experience was utterly disappointing, and I strongly discourage others from enduring a...
