Up front, the food was pretty good. I had the catfish poboy which definitely sated my appetite. The greens were okay but definitely needed more acidity to counter the bitterness. The rest of my family enjoyed the meal just fine. The cost per person at this point was fairly average for a touristy area. The real surprise came in the mail last week with a $60 parking fine (+$5 processing fee) for the hour we spent parked in front of the restaurant. We came in on the Main St. side at night and do not recall any markings that this was a paid lot. Viewing street view on Google Maps shows that the image capture was from April of 2022, and with that there are no clear markings on the road that this is a paid lot. Looking at street view from the S Beach Blvd entrance though did show a lot payment kiosk at a neighboring lot, which prompted me to go ahead and pay the fine as I don't think there's enough to dispute the fee. There's still no clear markings that it was a paid lot from that entrance as well. I feel fairly scammed, which is a shame. So: Beware of a surprise cost increase of your meal showing up in your mailbox a month and a half after your visit. Edit after owner comment: You may not own or operate the lot, but as the lot is at your front door you owe it to your clientele to help ensure experiences like this are kept to a bare minimum. As I said, we entered the property at night and saw no obvious signage that this...
Read moreAfter a day at the beach, I let my girlfriend pick between barbecue and the seafood place next door and she chose Murky Waters.
I'm very particular about food (I hate the title Foodie, but I live in New Orleans so it is baked into the cake). I have to say that I was so impressed with my meal at the restaurant. I had the burnt ends with a side of potato salad and collard greens. The size of the meat portion was beyond generous. I can say that the spicy sauce was one of the top 3 barbecue sauces I've had in my entire life. It was enough to give you a tingle, but did not sting your tongue. The potato salad was great. I suspect that is due to the chef adding sour cream to the mix. The collard greens were smokey, but I felt that they were slightly over salted.
I do not make it over to the Mississippi Coast very often, but when I do you can bet that Murky Waters is going to be on my list of...
Read moreServer was fantastic (Tisha)! 1st time and couldn’t wait to go. We live and patron all BSL locations and have many local friends and visitors. We bragged about MW opening here. We walked in and greeting was nice. Just a party of 2. Manager on duty was just rude and sat at the bar the whole time watching a game on TV and staring at us. We really wanted to leave while waiting on our drinks. Food was exceptionally tasty! We ordered extra food to take home. The portions are really small and the serving “plates or bowls” not appealing at all to help the size of the order. We did not have one item to take home so that confirms the size.
Might it it another try but my arm might need to be twisted if friends want to go.
3 stars because of Tisha and the taste...
