HENDRICKSONS OK, I get the whole nostalgia of it. Why people like it. I'm part German. Grew up going to festivals etc.
But .......
Service good, except she danced around my question on size of steak for almost $30. Because of that , I didn't chance it. So I went for the $18 sliced steak. My husband went for the Salmon.
Food. Ugh blah. No flavor. Boring. Steak dry. French fries good. 2 little onion rings, definitely frozen not home made. Tastes that way. I looked at my plate and said I get better at the Light House same thing for almost half the price. Salad, seriously dry. Taste like package mix from shop right. On a desert type plate. Now it's hilarious. Onion soup was very good. Over all Boring! !!!
My husband's Salmon was very nice, moist cooked correctly. But a couple pieces of frozen broccoli and garlic potatoes lol, ok. Same issue with salad. Dinner rolls stale. Boring!!! Actually kinda looked like something you would get at a chain place like Applebee's. Pre packaged, measured frozen items. That cook opens and just nukes. Zero flavor.
So not worth it. Not as raved about. Drinks soda and ice tea. Ok norm.
Seats, dirty. Every time I went forward for a bite, the table would just slide right across into my husband. Spent most of meal adjusting the table. Annoying, not anchored to floor. By end I was like just give me a check. Ordered potato pancakes to go, server said they were home made. How can you screw them up? I'll try, if not dog gets.
Now why I will never step foot in it again. Cleanliness. Bathroom gross, don't they wipe down the tiles on wall. By toilet gross stuff all over wall. Every section of floor gross, dirt high in corners like wet dirt collected as they moped. Caulking around sink breaking apart etc. Stall doors gross. Ladies room.
Tables dirty, floors dirty funky odors. I looked in the door to the kitchen. Wires running all along exposed ceiling insulation, the door glass filthy, door filthy, floor and casing for booth there filthy. Corner where they keep stuff for customers filthy. As we left, I peaked behind bar area. Gross, dirty. Floor linoleum all ripped up dirty etc. All I can think was how does this place pass inspection. Don't believe me, open your eyes next time. Look. Look at tile, floors , walls etc. It's takes a bucket , hot water and degreaser some elbow grease on slow nights do in sections. The amount of built up dirt made my skin crawl. I usually go to the bathroom b4 I eat and walk around. If it's dirty , I leave. This time I was just in a conversation and didnt. Don't give me it's old etc. It's lack of care. I don't wanna know what the kitchen looks like my food came from. I'd probably just scream. 25 years waitress, short order cook and manager. Been through every health training class, scrubbed my share of booths etc. It's just nasty. Never ever again. Thank you for your recommendation, but I think I need to stick to yelp where I will post this as well. P.S potato pancakes garbage when I got home, after I saw what I did. Won't try them. I hope I don't get sick. Before I saw how dirty the place was, I would of gave it 2 stars and a half Because of Salmon only....
Read moreOverpriced mediocre food. Went for brunch and realized that the $29 isn't any real discount. The entree choices are ~$17, side is probably $7 (guessing because they're not listed in the menu), then you get coffee/tea and some mini muffins for the remaining $5. Ordered the Steak and Eggs which the menu claimed was their "Famous Steak Sandwich" but only received a strip of steak with two eggs and some breakfast potatoes. Not exactly sure where the "sandwich" was supposed to come into this. Also got the mac and cheese as my side. I was first given some very dry muffins then, for some reason, the mac and cheese was delivered about five minutes before my entree and it was just okay. My steak was cooked as ordered but had no seasoning. It was an average meal and, if just based on that, I'd probably give this place 3-4 stars. However, I was shocked when my bill arrived because of the gall they had to charge $3 PER SODA! The brunch is supposed to come with a drink (admittedly only coffee and tea are listed on the menu) but I'd asked the waitress if I could just do a coke for my drink. At worst, I figured I'd pay a little extra for my drink (had no idea how much because they're not listed in the menu anywhere) and proceeded to have 2 refills while there. This resulted in $9 being added to my bill when it was not listed or mentioned that each refill was a ridiculous $3. The glass was at least 70% ice too! Insane... Needless to say I will never be returning to this restaurant and, even when ignoring the soda issue, I'd still recommend people go elsewhere as there are better food options for better...
Read moreHad to check this place out, it looks so magical from the outside. On inside even more, you are transported to a different time or a different country.
The waiters were super nice. Not busy at all at 6 on a Thursday. Other reviews say this place is small but there is about 7 tables in the front and like 10 tables in the back, maybe it seems small when it's busy on the weekend.
We got some signature cocktails that were on a menu at the booth. No prices but then we when we got the bill the milk way was $13 and the white wolf was $9. Both drinks were amazing. They got me very happy tipsy. And you really taste the pecan in the white wolf and the chocolatey creamy goodness in the Milky Way. We split the onion soup and the filet mignon. The onion soup for $8 was reasonably priced for the amount of cheese and soup they give. It was the best we both ever had. The flavor was so balanced and not too salty. The bread is under the cheese and the cheese tasted so good and gooey. The filet mignon had a good char and flavor but about 2 oz of it was grizzle, it was not center cut either. The spinach was amazing though, creamy but still felt like you were eating a vegetable.
I would definitely come back again and try some of the other food like the corn beef. I also want to get those drinks again. This place was a nice warm hug on...
