We went early, before the typical 'lunch rush', around 11:30. It was good, at first. The waiter, when he was there, was friendly. The mozzarella sticks were wonderful, as I remembered them to be. The oil not being on the table was odd, but he eventually brought the oil mixture and bread. It was when we got to the salads that it turned sour. The salads took about 20 minutes to get to our table after our appetizer plates were cleared away, and were runny with the water from the lettuce. Our waiter never appeared back at our table for the remainder of the service. Neither me or my sister received a refill on our sweet tea until our entrees. When we finally got our entree 30 minutes later, they were absolutely not what we expected. My mother's "Spicy" Shrimp and Chicken lacked any flavor, much less spice. My Chicken Milano was not good at all. There were supposed to be mushrooms in the fettuccine alfredo - there were two. My sister's Chicken Fettuccine was completely bland. When we tried to say something to the waitress/manager that came to check on us 10 minutes later, she asked my mother if she wanted some "extra cayenne" to throw in it. She clearly saw that all 3 of our plates were barely touched. Never offered an apology for the slow service, never asked what she could do to make things better, never asked if we would like Parmesan cheese on our entrees. She looked as though she could care less about our experience. We overheard another waitress tell the table next to us that there were a total of 3 people on the floor today, and that was why the slow service. At a table ahead of our neighboring table, the chef came out and spoke to them, but I'm unaware of what he said. I know that they waved at me to ask how long we had been waiting, because they had been waiting just as long. I did overhear her tell the chef that she had been ready to walk out. I'm highly disappointed, because this used to be my all time favorite place to eat. My sister had gotten me a gift card to use and I'd been holding onto it until I could eat with them at this restaurant. I used to work at a Johnny Carino's back in 2001, so I know the service was severely lacking. I can only hope that someone from the managerial staff reads this comment, realizes how bad they slacked that day, and I hope that I will be brave enough in the future to attempt this restaurant again. I would hate to have a repeat of this experience and never want to go to another Carino's...
Read moreIt’s been a long time since I have been to Carino’s Baytown location, and I must say I do not think I will be going back. My wife and I went for dinner and were sorely dissatisfied.
We were seated and had to wait almost 10 mins for our server. Our table was tacky sticky when we sat down.
Our server finally shows up to take our order and he obviously did not know the menu. We ordered our drinks, tea and water, and calamari. We notice other tables getting fresh bread and olive oil dipping sauce, where was ours? This used to be a staple at Carino’s, ours never arrived.
My wife ordered egg plant parm and the server asked her about her sides; she ordered a house salad, with house dressing. When I ordered a rib eye, medium rare, the server said, “ok, I’ll put that order in”, then he left. I looked at my wife and stated, what does my steak come with? He didn’t ask me about sides, either a salad or veggies, or potato. We looked for our server to ask about my steak and sides. When he came back to the table we asked about my steak and he said, “I’ve only been here 3 weeks, I’ve never seen a steak come out so I did not know.” I ordered a house salad with ranch and asked for steak fries.
We had good calamari for an appetizer and then it went downhill from there. My wife’s salad came with ranch and we returned it for the correct salad. The server stated, “oh I grabbed the wrong salad, yours was right next the the wrong one I grabbed.”
Her egg plant parm was over cooked, almost burned. My steak was medium, not medium rare, and it was tough and grisseled, I could hardly cut it with the regular knife I was given; I was not offered a steak knife. The presentation of my plate was bare, no appealing color. Both our dishes were over salted.
Our sever was not good about checking on us, in fact my wife sat for at least 10 mins during our meal with no water refill. We observed our server either standing around in the back talking to co-workers or hanging out at two tables in the back talking to customers.
We came in to eat at 6:00 pm on a Friday and the place was not busy at all, maybe 10 tables total. I hope you can correct these problems and properly train...
Read moreShould have known better seeing old & new trash at entrance and few vehicles in the parking lot at 7pm on a Saturday night. Surprised this place is in operation due to black mold by every ceiling air vent & ran down condition. This place looks like it's had longterm hurricane damage that was reinvested in huge TVs & lame decor. The men's restroom was nasty with poop under the lid and looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in years, according to my husband. Didn't dare use the ladies room. The service was slow and our waitress had a section bigger than she could handle. Plenty of servers, but not in a teamwork environment or willingness to contribute to guest satisfaction. No expeditors, no one other than our waitress stopped by. They bus thier own tables during dinner service. We had to ask for refills twice, had to ask for bread. All because our stay was extended due to slow/poor service. We received our appetizer but our salads were forgotten until asked for and they arrived with the entrée. The food was ok... just waited entirely too long for it. We had cream sodas that had so little syrup it didn't change colors. Each drink, each time, we had to ask our waitress for extra syrup, which is under lock and key. How odd, it's not alcohol. She said the bartender guards it & she has to beg for it. It wasn't worth the price or the hassle. In addition to the kitchen staff that could not produce salads before entrees arving is A MANAGEMENT ISSUE. This place is poorly ran, ran down and full of black mold. Never saw management or a chef. Door Dash orders took priority over dinnertime guest service. Apparently, people like the food but don't want to dine in due to the conditions and service. The ambiance was no longer the homestyle Italian restaurant of our past. We were here to celebrate our 15yr anniversary at the place we had our rehearsal dinner (Beaumont location closed). Cheesy artwork of pizza and cars isn't in line with the menu prices of $15-$22 an entrée. Huge disappointment. We received pizza parol service and atmosphere for Carrabba's prices. We will never come back to this...
