Bar Italia Beachwood — Restaurant in Beachwood

We visited Bar Italia on 3/11/23. It was for a birthday celebration. We had a party of 10. We called the day before to make a reservation for 12. We were told that is a large party and to call the day of the reservation. We called when the restaurant opened and made our reservation, even though we didn't have to leave a name but specified the time, 1:00 PM. We were seated quickly, our orders were taken quickly, and our food arrived within 20 to 30 minutes within entering the building. It is a peaceful atmosphere, soft lighting, monotone conversations across the room, staff members present. The food was good. Most of the group had lasagna or wedding soup or pizza for my friend's daughter. I had the lemon chicken sandwich with kale salad and crispy chips, crispy chicken with fries, and pasta with red sauce for my children. I didn't care for the chips; they were a little salty for me. But my friend ate them all, saying they were great! Taste bud differences! They do have child portion sizes and can customize pizza and pasta orders for children. And they have child cups and ginger ale! The waitress was awesome! I do not recall her name, but she has light blonde hair. Even the staff who brought the food out were helpful in getting extra sauce or drink refills. Also, most of the group tried their bellini selection (either frozen or liquid). They liked them. I wanted to share my positive experience at Bar Italia restaurant in Beachwood Ohio on 10/25/25. I order takeout from this restaurant occasionally. The food is exceptional and never disappoints. The meatballs are excellent. Only reason I don’t order more often is it’s over a 15 minute drive from my home. Today I wanted the best for a party we were having for my birthday. I ordered 5 pizzas as one of our appetizers, all different varieties. Mushroom bianco my favorite. Today there was an unforseen snafu with my take out order. Dan the manager immediately came out, took charge, and addressed the situation, and rectified the situation. Not only did he correct the situation, he prioritized my order, generously compensated me, and personally handed me my order, and held the door for me as I carried it out. His demeanor was respectful, gracious, and accommodating. He was determined to make things right from the get go. Dan surpassed my expectations. I have found that a person’s true personality is exhibited during stressful and unforseen circumstances. He made me feel like he actually cared about me as a person and what was important to me on that day. I shared my experience with everyone at the party that afternoon. Bar Italia was my favorite Italian restaurant in Beachwood that I've visited couple of times. Food is great, highly recommend beef carpaccio for starter. Atmosphere is also pleasant. However, the rude waitress attitude left a bitter taste in our mouths and ruined my wife's birthday night. She showed her discomfort when the host directed us to our reserved table and decided that we are not worthy of her elite service. She attended two tables in our both sides, took order of another couple who came much later than us, completely ignored us for 30 minutes, and showed her back to us anytime she was passing by. We were sitting there shocked and confused until our host brought us water after 30 minutes. Then the blonde waitress came to our table and directly said that she is not gonna serve us and Caroline will take our order. On the other hand, Caroline was respectful and professional. We didn't understand the blonde waitress attitude, obviously it was not racism. Paid customer deserve to be treated properly and professionally, but that was not the case.
