I was at Ho Wahs, Sunday, September 21, 2025 in the early evening. I have eaten at Ho Wahs numerous times and enjoyed my meal. Unfortunately, not the case this past Sunday my soup, egg rolls, fried rice and crab rangoo, not good. The egg rolls didn't taste fresh, fried rice overcooked and very sticky, Won ton soup noodles were mushy not firm as usual. The crab rangoo was okay but small amounts inside and not as favorable. I can truly say as a long time customer over the years and very cognitive of the quality of my previous food experience, including take out orders, this experience was very disappointing. Even though ordering several appetizers instead of a full meal from the menu my expectations is for my food to be fresh and favorable. My food came out piece by piece. I should have spoken up starting with the egg rolls(2) being hard and didn't taste fresh, followed by the mushy soup noodles, however, I didn't. The price of the individual appetizers added up to the cost of a full meal, so the meal itself wasn't inexpensive. I ate very little of my meal and ended up packing it up to go.The last time patronizing Ho Wahs was about five months ago. I told the person accompanying me, I won't return. When you select a place to eat as a customer you want your food to be fresh and good without the stress and hassle of sending food back to the kitchen and being uncomfortable doing so. Quality and taste is definitely not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaven't been here in decades (I moved out of the Cleveland area in the early 90s) but I was in town with my son and wanted to swing by the old go-to Chinese restaurant we went to somewhat frequently when I was a kid growing up nearby. It was a Wednesday around the dinner rush and the place is medium-busy but no one is at the host stand for a good five minutes, then the guy shows up and says they only have two servers working so it's gonna be a few minutes... Which is fine (even though it's weird since the place has more than 20 tables of various sizes) he also tells me they have a 17-top coming in to set up for (which I also understand as someone in the industry on the Front of the House side of things) but then we get sat and wait 10 minutes for someone to come pour water and almost another 10 before a manager thankfully comes by to take our order -- meanwhile both of the two servers working walked by us multiple times and never stopped to even greet us, let alone take an order. I'm giving the place two stars bases solely on the fact the food is still as decent as it was in the 1980s... But come on people, get it together. If you can't field enough waitstaff for dine-in, then just close the dining room for the night. I'd prefer to have gotten carryout and eaten it in the hotel room. Also, no bathroom in the restaurant and ZERO internet access -- no WiFi and not even my mobile network was getting any reception. It's 2022. Time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe ordered take out arrived quickly so we waited in our car and watched the cook step out side the back entrance to retrieve a half smoked cigarette from his pocket to finish. We should have canceled then. Our bill for lunch was almost 30 dollars for fried rice , wonton soup , 2 egg rolls and one entree. I went in early not even ten minutes after the call and the food was ready I should have known this because the cook had stepped out to smoke after it was complete. The reason it was finished so fast was because everything was prepared in advance and warmed. The fried rice had an odd flavor like whatever else it was sitting with in the cooler with , wonton bland under cooked noodles not sure what was inside them the eggrolls were chewy like taffy. Our sesame chicken was wet and mushy because the tempura was done ahead of time and married with a candy like sauce sort of like chicken rolled in a wet donut. I have a case of reference from working in the hospitality industry I do not presume to know it all but have worked in private clubs to beer joints . The food was terrible my mother felt ill and I was left feeling queasy for convincing her to go instead of trying that new Mexican place downtown by play house. We noticed both the restaurants in Beachwood place are gone and are baffled as to how , ho wah manages to stay in business. We will...
