Hash N Smash just opened and it was a smashing hit! Both my husband and myself enjoyed our meals. We did have a waitress, Wendy, and a waitress in training, Trinity, and both did a great job.
When we arrived around 12:30 on a Saturday, it was packed but there was an open table and some barstool seating at the counter. We were promptly seated and given menus.
They serve breakfast and lunch throughout the day. They have a pretty extensive menu and great price points. Everything is fresh and made to order - keep this in mind because it might take a little bit before you get your food (also the fact that they just opened) and have been slammed everyday since opening.
FOOD: *for adults who are hungry, we’d recommend getting the burgers with an extra patty because they are thin. House Smash Burger + Fries | Rating: 5/5 - delicious. Tasted like a quality Big Mac if I’m being honest. The sauce was the same but better and pickles were delicious. The burgers are smashed down and thin but had really great flavor. They also loaded your tray with fries (they could’ve had a little more salt to them but otherwise hot and good). Chorizo Smash Burger + Fries | Rating: 5/5: my husband said it had really good flavor as well with a little spiciness. He especially liked the pickled onions and queso fresco.
DRINKS: Coke in a glass bottle - there’s nothing like a Coke in a bottle. I wish they were like freezing cold (only felt chilled when it came to the table) but they did give you a cup with ice which is fine. It’s a nice little touch that elevates your drink experience.
OVERALL: We’ll be back! The location is great in Downtown Beaver, the food was good, and the theming was cute - old world diner vibes but clean. The staff was friendly as well and service wasn’t bad (again they’re still new and training). Really, really impressed with them for only being opened for a few weeks and having...
Read moreI will start with wow! My family and I were extremely disappointed with this place.. The service was awful and no attentionwas spent on the customers. They didnt even know there was a special.
My kids order off the kids menu and instead the waitress gave them only the items they orded (I will do this, pointing to either the Tom or Jerry meal, with bacon.) They only got a pancake and bacon not the meals so we ended up paying for a bunch of sides for the kids. Side of pancake, side of bacon, etc............ my two daughters even complained about the water. Saying it has an awful taste to it.
As we sat there the head waitress (maybe manager) was filling a container with silerware, dumped around 15 sets on the floor, looked around, scooped them all up and put them back in the contianer, which was later put on tables for customers to use.
As for the food, it was so so. The hash browns were cold and hard (way over cooked) the bacon was both way over cooked (burnt) or way under cooked. I got bread with my meal and I recieved half of the butt of the bread. Pit a full!
The whole experience was bad. We will not be returning. And everyone we know will be told the same thing. We went here a year ago, and it was amazing. Great food and service. We told everyone about it. I'm not sure what happened, but this place...
Read moreI decided to check this place out after an early morning appointment. Just last week, they celebrated their first anniversary. I ordered the Gyro Hash with coffee.
The coffee was served promptly and was VERY fresh. Nice and strong and flavorful and piping hot.
The gyro hash arrived and it was a hearty bed of crispy hash browns layered with tender, well-seasoned gyro meat and sprinkle of feta cheese. A nicely cooked over-medium egg on top tied it all together with yolks just runny enough to enrich each bite with a generous drizzle of tangy tzatziki sauce.
The gyro meat was the true star — juicy, flavorful, and with just the right amount of spice. It balanced surprisingly well with the potatoes and feta added depth and texture. The tzatziki added a cool, creamy contrast that kept things light despite the heartiness of the dish.
The atmosphere relaxed with a modern 50's twist. This is a great spot for a weekend brunch or a satisfying weekday breakfast. Whether you're a gyro fan or just looking to try something new, this dish hits the mark.
Final Verdict: 7.75/10. I would have offered a side pita and added grilled peppers and onions to add texture to tie the dish together. But still, the gyro hash is a delicious, creative breakfast that delivers on both flavor and portion. Highly...
