Located on the quieter fringes of the Green Town Center, Von Maur stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of quality department stores in an era where such establishments are becoming increasingly rare. This large, elegantly appointed store, despite its somewhat secluded position, offers a tranquil escape from the typical retail frenzy, often appearing less frequented than one might anticipate for a venue of its caliber.
The true essence of Von Maur's allure, however, lies in the unparalleled service and personal attention provided by its staff, particularly highlighted in the shoe and dress departments. The shoe department experience, for instance, becomes a story worth telling on its own. On a quest for the perfect pair of shoes to match a wedding dress, I was assisted by a woman whose expertise was immediately apparent. She didn't just fetch shoes; she observed, considered, and ultimately guided me with a refined eye for style and fit. When one pair, seemingly perfect at a glance, didn't quite complement the look as hoped, she was quick to notice. With a blend of professionalism and genuine care, she explained why they weren't the ideal choice, helping me see what I hadn't noticed myself. Her guidance was not just about sales but about ensuring I would look and feel my best on a significant day.
Equally impressive was the dedication of the lady in the dress department, who, despite the store's limited options in petite sizes, worked tirelessly to provide alternatives and solutions. Her effort and enthusiasm in finding the right dress underscored the exceptional level of customer service that defines Von Maur.
In an age where the personal touch has often been lost in retail, Von Maur stands as a testament to its enduring value. It's not merely the quiet location or the elegant setting that makes Von Maur the last of its kind in the area; it's the people who work there, whose expertise and kindness transform routine shopping into a memorable experience. The shoe saga, a testament to this, highlights how a simple act of purchasing can become a story of exceptional service and personal care, making Von Maur not just a store, but a cherished shopping...
Read moreI've been shopping at Von Maur since they opened at the Greene and have never had anything less than 5-star+ service, which is why yesterday's shopping experience was such a shocking disappointment!
I came in to return a dress, but stopped in the handbag department first to look around. Two employees were behind the back counter, with one giving instructions to the other in regard to what hourly rate associates would receive if called into work. (If you're reading this and looking for work, they pay surprisingly well!)
While I was browsing another customer came to them and asked for assistance. The one who was instructing walked with the customer to the front of the department to help, and I followed them. I stood at the register for a bit, and then went back and asked the remaining employee if I could also receive some assistance.
The woman was obviously distracted because she not only forgot that I gave her a receipt for my return, but she asked me the same questions several times. Even though I didn't say anything, she must have picked up on my displeasure as at the end of the transaction she went into a fast-pace tirade about how she was a 20-year professional and that this was how she'd been treating customers for years and years.
Maybe she has been treating customers the same way for 20 years. But my guess is that she's a new employee to Von Maur and that her type of service won't be appreciated by other customers either. But that's just a guess. But it's not a guess that she was inattentive, as she had to come running after me to give me a receipt she'd neglected to tuck into my bag.
I thought I missed Von Maur during the pandemic. ...

Got to the store .A salesman told me he couldn't take the return and called a manager to do it. I said no problem waited and she came down and told me she could not give me a refund because the tag was taken off.even though I left the orange stitches that held the tags on . I told her I was modeling it for my mom did not matter .no refund I showed her the return policy sign she said the hole policy was somewhere else that she could get it for me if I like . I told her that was ok I believe she had one that said no return without tags attached somewhere where none could see it . Then I asked if she was going to make me keep a 400.00$ suit with a hole in the sleeve , after some thought and checking to see if they had any in stock , I went and got one off the rack that I got the original one from. she even exchanged it for me it had tags still sewn on it ,but I was afraid to ask her to return it.so know weeks after the funeral I have a nice 400.00$ suit to...
