I have been going to Tropical Smoothie for about 5 years now. I frequent multiple locations both in KY and Ohio and I get takeout probably once or twice a week on average. However, my last two experiences with one location have been unpleasant. Both times I ordered a Caribbean jerk chicken wrap with no romaine. I have a very high sensitivity to romaine or any type of lettuce. Well... you guessed it!!! both times, my wrap had romaine. The first time I tried to call the store but it was a busy tone all evening, so I never got through. This second time after ordering from other locations with no issues, I tried the place close to me again. With another epic fail, I called the store and this time a person did answer and he told me to just take it off. Take a look at my picture and tell me it's easy to just take it off. I asked for a manager and instead I got a team lead and was given excuses. She told me they have trainees and getting things 100% is difficult and I said apparently reading is not a requirement because my ticket says no romaine. After that I was given a VIP card for a free smoothie or food item. While I appreciate the gesture, I have no confidence that they can get my order right, so I will not be ordering that wrap any more. This experience and lack of customer service has definitely turned me negative towards this restaurant and will be used by my family less and less in the future. Read moreZero stars is not an option or I would have selected it, and it has nothing to do with the food products. I have been there two times this month and on both occasions witnessed a similar scene: management staff yelling and swearing at the young staff in front of a packed store of customers. The young staff, which appeared to be comprised mostly of high school age females, was obviously publicly humiliated by the public inappropriate treatment, creating an uncomfortable situation for both the patrons in the store and the staff. There were many comments and disagreeable glances between myself and other witnessing patrons in line. As if swearing and humiliation from the staff to the young employees wasn't inappropriate enough, they chose to conduct this behavior in witness of a busy lunch crowd, making the situation awkward for everyone in the establishment. Since I have witnessed it two times in the same store on the only two occasions I have ever visited there, roughly a month apart, I can only guess that this is the standard work environment the store embraces. I only hope by posting this comment that the owner of the store/franchise takes action to curb the inappropriate behavior of the management staff. I did not further escalate the scene in the store in respect to the other staff and patrons, and based on the immature behavior I witnessed from the management I am sure it would have benefited no one. Read moreNormally i would give this place five stars. I’ve always had good food and good service. I absolutely love their smoothies! But today, i went in around 11:30am. They were busy. Four people waiting on orders, and four people ahead of me in line. It looked like they had two people working in the back and then one in front counter. The young man working the front counter was extremely rude! To MANY of the customers. One lady asked to have her smoothie stirred up a little more, and he told her “we’re too busy for specific orders.” I stopped the young lady that was bringing the orders out, to let her know that I had forgotten to tell the order taker that the order was to go. She acted confused by what I was telling her. The young man at the front counter turned around and said to me, “Ma'am we’re busy right now and your orders going to take a minute.” I let him know that I had forgotten to tell him that it was to go, to which he said “don’t worry about it.” He was very short, and very rude to a lot of the customers in the store.
