Overpriced and bland food. The cannoli are not cannoli, wrong shell and filling. The sandwiches we're bland. The macchiato was done wrong. Now regular coffee and mochas perfectly good. Stick with those and it's a 3 1/2 star, but add in food and they tank.
Another order today 2/19/19 Torn on this place. 3rd order from here. 2 delivery, one in person pick up. The coffee, regular coffee or mochas are pretty good. The dark chocolate mocha is so far my favorite. This order was delivered 2 coffees and a dozen assorted cookies. We got 11 cookies, one white triangle cookie short. Either the place screwed up or the driver ate one. Shrug, cookies were cheap. The cookies were all very soft. The thumb prints are usually my favorite, the middle didn't taste like anything other than sweet generic jelly no ohh this is raspberry or strawberry. At least they weren't super sweet. The chocolate we're also very soft, very much for a chocolate lover but really way too sweet for me. The triangle were more firm but still soft (a good balance) and held together well with all the powder sugar when bit. Weren't exciting but ok not something I'd buy on their own. As assortment probably a good combo. I have had better cookies at bakeries so if this place is trying to push as great bakery and coffee ehhh I'd give an OK bakery and good doctored coffee. If I want real Italian great coffee and pastry I go to Piazza Italia or Caffe Umbria they know how to make an expresso macchiato and I can drink their coffee without sugar and flavor in to mask the bitterness. We'll probably still now and again get mochas here but definitely not sandwiches again, a chance might try a different cookies or dessert especially if get delivery but 90% of time we'll grab Black Rock or Human Bean coffees first. Black Rock we get every...
Read moreVery happy to see this place is open! The vibe is very comforting. Unfortunately the pastries don't do this place justice. The options are limited (gluten/no vegan) and the chocolate croissants are...I hate to mention this...bricks. I hope to have a better experience here the next time and will update my review. Suggestion for management: test out your pastries before selling them if they are rock hard. You should be honest with your customers.
Recent Update: The veggie sandwich is so good - wow. The coffee is still heavily watered down but I stopped getting coffee here so, crisis averted. The one thing that really annoys me is the s*y selection of CLUB MUSIC. I love club music and top 40's but seriously guys, lower the volume - this is a cafe! People have to yell at one another across a table just to have a conversation. (Also, I love metal/rock/loud hip hop but I know when it's appropriate to play in a public setting where one should be mindful of the patrons who want to enjoy the space)
The staff are amazing folks so take this review with a grain of salt.
Update as of 9/1/22: If you want a nice, smoke-free sit-down experience at a cafe, go elsewhere. I go to Ava often and on 4 separate occasions I've been smothered by a nearby group 'cigarette smoke party'. This is especially prevalent during evening hours. The employees are either too afraid to ask people to politely stop smoking or they are not trained to handle a situation like this when it arises. I've been to a few Ava spots to work and have lunch and I will say that the Beaverton location is the most ghetto one. I will not be coming back to this spot.
Places I recommend: Insomnia Coffee (Murray Hill) Lionheart (Tigard) Good Coffee...
Read moreEvery time I think I should give Ava Rosteria another try I am disappointed by something. It has pretty good coffee and awesome food, albeit a tad on the pricey side, making it somewhere I really want to like but I just can't.
Two of the locations I've tried so far had a terrible internet connection, this one included; however, we were sitting on the most southern table and they were packed so I can understand a lower bandwidth.
When my wife suggested we try it again today, I said sure, I'm always willing to give a place another try. After we placed our $25 food and drink order, I asked the barista for use the rest of the coconut milk used for my latte to top off her drip coffee. No can do, she says, I have to get to the back of the 15 person line to pay 70 cents for about half an ounce of coconut milk she was currently pouring into the sink. I asked her if I could just give her the dollar and they could take care of it later because the line was so long. Again, back of the line, 70 cents at the register, 1/2 ounce of coconut milk.
In the 5 or so minutes its taken me to write this review, I would just now be making it to the register to order half an ounce of coconut milk for 70 cents for my wife's drip coffee.
Again, pretty good coffee, great food, friendly enough staff, and a bunch of other stuff that just makes it not worth it.
Also, everything is served in togo cups, despite saying we want it for here.
Lastly, to their credit, this time the internet...
