Fried okra was seasoned a little heavy but a home run other than that. Fried chicken was seasoned well but inconsistent between pieces being cooked perfectly or dry. This usually happens when drumsticks or wings are dropped in the same basket as breast or thighs. Less meat, less cooking time. The Mac n Cheese was the big let down as it tasted like your normal boxed Mac n Cheese with an addition of salt and pepper. I probably would have still given 4 stars but I think they have a contamination issue as I have been sick since I ate there. Not to the point where I have to go to the hospital but in less than an hour later, I was running to the restroom and every 30 minutes after for about 3 hours. I tried eating a small snack later in the evening, and within minutes I was back in the restroom. Feels like I got hit in the gut with a baseball bat as this morning was a continuation of the same. Ate breakfast and spent the better part of an hour in the restroom.
Well it doesn't seem like the owner can handle criticism that well and trying to find excuses versus a simple apology. I was looking forward to giving them another try when I was back in the Benbrook area, but after their reply, that chance is slim to none. Being a Culinary graduate with high honors, I understand the difference in bowel movements of high grease and high fiber versus bowel movements contributed by contamination. A simple touch of finished food handled by something that was touching raw meat is all it takes. Cooks handling items such as cell phones while on the line or kitchen is major contamination issue as well. Seeing the cook leave the kitchen to go outside, putting his hands on 2 different doors while going outside and then coming back in could be the factor. Not sure if he washed his hands as this is a closed kitchen, I can only assume and hope he did. Whatever the reason, only thing I'm 100% on, is that something went wrong with the food I ate that has had me running to the restroom every time I have tried to snack or eat in the last 24+ hours.
I appreciate the reply from the owner, but all I wanted to do was mention something went wrong on my 1st visit in hopes that this, or something worse, doesn't happen to another customer.
Best of luck in the future for this owner and business. And hopefully their Mac n Cheese is dairy based and diary based. Although, diary based would encourage my...
Read moreUpdate Replying to the Owner: So as a owner of a restaurant it’s ok to take criticism and roll with the punches, but everyone can’t be professional when receiving criticism about their food, you should know everyone isn’t going to like your food and also if you tasted those greens then that just shows that you lack tastebuds reasoning why the food was either too salty or not seasoned enough but hey I’ll make sure I’ll never stumble upon this place again and hoping that the next pass it up too!! All I’m going to say is do better and consult with a PR person on how to properly reply to criticism when a customer is already unsatisfied your reply didn’t make it any better!! Original Post: Stumbled across this place and gave them a try, well 52 dollars later I’m highly disappointed and looking for food!! I ordered two 3 pcs wings one with Mac and Sweet Potatoes and the other with Mac and Greens and a pc of Catfish. The chicken didn’t have any seasoning and was fried too soft, the fish was too salty and I couldn’t eat at all!! The Mac lacked flavor and even the taste of cheese idk how that worked but it did and the greens idk chef we need to revisit the seasoning cabinet because there was no seasoning on the greens not even the pork the description stated they were cooked in maybe use turkey to get the flavor of the smoked meat! And the sweet potatoes I’m not going to even comment on them.. overall it was not a pleasant experience but the koolaid was good!! If that counts for anything.. 0/10 for me and my taste buds but try it for yourself and have your...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away by the experience at Arlanderz Chicken Joint today! From the moment I stepped through the door, it was clear this place was something special. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and the staff immediately made me feel like family.
But let’s talk about the star of the show — the chicken. Honestly, I’m not sure I’ve ever tasted chicken this flavorful and perfectly cooked in my life. It was juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. The skin? Crispy and golden, with just the right balance of spices. Each bite was an absolute flavor explosion.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the attention to detail. From the quality of the ingredients to the impeccable service, it's clear that they take pride in everything they do. The staff was friendly, attentive, and really made sure I had an excellent experience from start to finish.
If you haven’t yet made your way to Arlanderz Chicken Joint, stop what you’re doing and go — your taste buds will thank you. This is fried chicken done right. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!
