El Compadre — Restaurant in Bedford

On Monday afternoon 12-23-2024, at El Compadre restaurant in Bedford, my son and I had lunch there. I had a Brandon's Big beef Burrito and fries. My son had the Texas Style Quesadilla . He could not eat all of his meal so he put his leftover in one of their styrofoam boxes to take home. All Monday night my son was sick with diarrhea and an upset stomach, said he never wants to go back there again, but I felt fine. Then yesterday evening I ate the rest of my son's leftover texas meal. What a dummy, I never made the connection that it might have been his mexican food from the restaurant. And now 12 - 13 hours later, I am sick with gas, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and puking. They call this food poisoning. Probably Salmonella, Campylobacter, or E Coli bacteria from their food. I am going to ER if I dont get better in the next couple hours. Posting below two photos of the food order from this restaurant that made us both sick. Food is alright (chicken sometimes has a weird flavor-like frozen chicken thrown into a hot pan flavor). Love their fried rice and cheese sauce. Chips & salsa are very good (if you don't like cilantro, you probably won't like the salsa). Staff is almost always friendly (besides a select few). Their topapillas are very good! Get both honey & chocolate syrup on them!

Only reasons for 3 stars: Chimichangas are soggy. The weird chicken flavor. Ordered a chicken chimichanga before. Got a few bites in and wondered why the “chicken” was so chewy….IT WAS SHRIMP. Luckily I don’t have a shellfish allergy. There are some waitresses who wear long, fake nails. (FDA Food Code states: the food employee may wear artificial nails or fingernail polish only if they also wear gloves that are clean and in good condition.) It’s a hygiene issue (have even had a waitress’s fake nails in my food before when she sat my plate...

There was one young girl trying to do everything by herself. It took 20 minutes to get seated. She had no help. Felt bad for her. When the order was put in, they forgot one of them. By the time it was ready, everyone else was finished. The food is nothing special. They don't even put the recipes together right. Everything is done half-assed. Since when is "Nachos" shredded mozzarella cheese melted over chips? Their idea of taco salad is to take 'some' hamburger, drown it in lettuce and sprinkle a little shredded mozzarella on top. When all was said and done, they didn't even cash it out correctly. Certainly didn't offer any kind of apology for forgetting the order. They are not very professional and the food is nothing to write home about.
