READ ME!!! First time I've ever experience RACISM!!! I was a server and bartender for years so please don't say "maybe they were busy". Today me and my other half decided to try this new place out for a quick lunch. We were seated by one nice older man and then sat and waited for 10 minutes before the busser came over to offer us drinks. One beer and one coke please. Five minutes later he returned with not even a full glass of coke. I ignored it because we were ready to order but as soon as I mentioned we were ready he walked away acting as if he didn't hear me. Never making eye contact with me again. I continued to watch all the other tables order, laugh, joke and enjoy their food and experience. Each table was touched at least four times before the next and final incident happened. I waved my hand at an older lady to get her attention and to possibly order our food. I told her we have been sitting for almost 30 minutes to order and that my other half hasn't received his beverage yet. She rolled her eyes and said "let me check". She walked over to the nice gentleman that sat us TELLING him in Spanish to take us. He replied that he had to many tables already and that we belong to her. She said and I quote "I don't want the black people"... My mouth dropped and I had enough!!! I am of mixed races, educated and very respectful. That comment made my head spin and my blood boil. COMPLETELY DISGUSTED! I bet if I ordered and greeted them in Spanish it would be different or if I was completely white it would be different. I stood up and then noticed the owner or manager was sitting directly behind me and had nothing to say either. I grabbed my things and left. As we were leaving another biracial couple was walking in and I made it clear to them that they don't cater to OUR KIND. I will make sure I share my story with everyone and video footage of the disrespect this restaurant served us today. Shame on...
Read moreEdit: Pictures added on second visit. Taco Dinner and Brisket Tacos. Just as delicious as the first time! (Though if you're not a fan of greasy food, beware, this style of cooking is heavy on the grease if done right. It's super easy to drain, though, and the flavor is soooooo good)
Please come here so I don't lose my new favorite hole in the wall!!!!! No pictures to share because I and my husband demolished our plates before I remembered that's a thing I should do. Overall the menu is a mix of Tex-Mex and more Mexican (I think? Not really sure the exact style.) dishes. The margarita menu's flavor options are extensive. I had the hibiscus, and it was excellent. The plain queso was great, even without bells and whistles, but adding the ground beef was wonderful. I had the Lola's tacos, and hubby had the cheese enchiladas. Both plates were excellent, easily on par with a Mi Pueblo or maybe a less expensive version of Rio Mambo. And the price was quite reasonable. Downsides would be mediocre refried beans and standard rice. Also, they have a pretty simplistic menu, but it seems to be a case of excelling at a set number of items. That's about it, honestly. Good service, timely food delivery (we came during a downtime, though) and good background music. Really, really hoping that this place kicks off successfully and sticks around longer than other places in this area tend to.
Edit: Not sure what all the 1-star people are on about w/ the upcharge and unhelpful staff, btw. The salsa and chips were free, and they didn't even charge us for adding the ground beef to the queso. Either things have changed or they were at a...
Read moreI'm afraid that I will have to be the first to give this new taco bar less than a 5 star. We went there today for my birthday (no I didn't tell them). We started the meal off with Queso and Cheese which was unimpressive and pricy at $7.50. And we were served with stale chips. We quickly returned them, and fresh ones were served to us. Where is the quality control with something as simple as chips? By the way, if you want salsa and chips- it is $2.00. Yes, you heard me. This is not your father's Mexican restaurant! We waited for over 30 minutes for our six tacos to be made. They were quite good, but by the time they came out, we had eaten all the queso and most of the chips. So, we ended up taking two of the tacos home. I got the Tacos de Pescado (fried fish) at $15 dollars and my wife got the Brunas Tacos (fajita meat on corn) at $13. I'm not sure if Bedford is ready for $15 tacos, no matter how good they all. And the competition is massive with literally a half dozen taco joints within a square mile! When we got the ticket, we didn't even get an itemized receipt. Just the price owed and that was it? I guess we have to trust that the server (whom we had to ask for a water refill) priced it right! It was a busy holiday weekend night and I know this place is new, so I am giving them a better score than they deserve on this night. Here is hoping that the service and quality of food improves. But I'm afraid the...
