I really want to give this place one star but will chalk it up to two for some reasons. My fiancé and I really do like the location of this restaurant and the type of food that they provide. Due to this, we thought about having our rehearsal dinner here. Before we did that, we wanted to try the place and see what it had to offer. We came two separate times and the second time was a clear answer as to why we would never come back.
1st experience: We planned on having our rehearsal dinner on a Friday so wanted to see what it looked like business wise on Fridays. We came around dinner time (around 6pm) and they had about 5 tables filled. Our server was newer (I think his name was Andy) and he was very nice and did a great job picking out our food and providing us with some info about the place that he knew of. Food was great. No issues and we decided to try and come back again possibly on another busy day.
2nd experience: We decided to try it again on a busy weekend (weekend of Octoberfest) to see how they do and came as a small group (total of 5 people). Server seemed nice, got our drink orders in pretty quick. Again there were only about 3-5 tables filled so already not looking good with business. They seemed like they had 2-3 servers and 2 people behind the bar at the time. After the drinks came is when it started to get sour. We waited a while for the waitress to come back and take our order. Once she took our order we waited about 20 minutes for our food to come out but only 3 out of the 5 people ended up getting their food (fiancé and I were the sorry two). The waitress said the other plates should be coming out soon as she dropped off those 3 first plates. Another 20 minutes pass by and the waitress comes back and tells us that the kitchen did not make enough food, apologizes and then says it should be out soon again, and offers us a free drink (which half of the drinks they had were not available). We get the drinks and are watching the other tables get their food and our friends eat and finish their plates. By the time we get our plates, we have been at the table for a whole hour and everyone else is pretty much done and ready to go. We are pretty much fed up and want to go. One of our friends pays for her food and leaves a few minutes after we get our food (little did she know she was charged an extra gratuity fee on top of the tip she already gave). We talked with the waitress on getting a discount for our late food and she says “our manager is super stingy and will only discount one dish”. We get our receipt and it still has the total from the guest that left earlier. We have to go back and forth with her getting the total correct as we are not paying for a dish that was already paid for and finally after another 20 minutes we have the correct total. Though the table was only 5 people and one paid early, they tacked on a gratuity charge for everyone there (usually it’s 8 or more people per table).
This experience alone was not worth it for us to bring guests here and for us to experience this terrible...
Read moreI make kitchen technician by trade and and I see kitchen‘s every day all around the tri-state. I came to eat at this restaurant never been here before but heard it was amazing. So decided to take my girlfriend first thing that happened Was the hostess was happy to tell me there was a one hour wait You could tell they did not care whether we walked out or not people were walking out left and right they were barely busy we heard a couple say they were waiting for an hour and they were just going to leave. So we decided to wait it out because we believed it was going to be excellent. Fast forward 1hr 45 minutes later Went to talk to the manager after seeing all the tables dirty And responses from other customers that I won’t speak for.and her response was they were understaffed which is very common right now right there I should’ve left I even said out loud I was worried about how long it would take To get our food and then we should just leave. The manager more than likely told the employees To take care of us they were not busy. I so I decide to give it a chance Because I wanted to enjoy sitting outside looking at the city with my girlfriend while eating. Our waitress was nice but her service was terrible I had to send back my food although my girlfriend ate because she was starving I did not because my food was not correct and the crabcakes were not prepared correctly they were cold On the inside and with just a tiny bit of crab dipping sauce the fish tacos we’re sent back because They were not correct plus they looked nasty. So I told them I will just eat the rice and that would be fine they did take it off my bill but they did not find anyway whatsoever to make or experience delightful rushing the food because they knew we were waiting was a horrible idea for all I know it was microwaved Or heated quickly. No one was mean or rude but the service was absolutely horrible and the food was just horrible and I was starving my girlfriend refuses to come back I told them to give them some time because they must be going through a rough patch but after reading other reviews I see this has been going on for a while and I won’t be back. I wish their business good luck they need to focus on customer service and a strategy for any obstacles they may have that is causing these problems. To the owner I would like to say consider starting fresh and making a plan to Keep your business even if you have to limit how many people you serve. There is a problem somewhere and it’s not a lack of employees because if they were happy to work there your customers would be too.I really mean it when I say I wish the best for your business, you still have a chance to make real change...
Read moreVisited for the first time to celebrate my birthday, and I really wanted to love this place—but unfortunately, a few things made it hard to fully enjoy the evening.
First Impressions: The very first thing we all noticed—before even walking in—was the state of the exterior. Overgrown weeds, unkempt landscaping, and particularly the condition of the stairs made us second-guess our choice. First impressions matter, and when the outside looks neglected, it naturally raises concerns about cleanliness inside, especially in the kitchen.
Staff & Service: Once inside, we were greeted by an incredibly friendly team. Unfortunately, they were clearly very short-staffed, and it showed. One waitress was doing her absolute best to serve the whole restaurant, and I truly felt for her. That said, the presumed manager did an amazing job jumping in and helping where needed—so major kudos for the teamwork and effort under pressure.
Serious Safety Concern: A big issue occurred when one of my guests tripped on the front steps and suffered a pretty bad knee injury—blood was pouring down her leg. We asked for a first aid kit, but were told there wasn’t one, which is concerning (and also not in compliance with Kentucky requirements). The manager did their best with what they had (paper napkins), but unfortunately, we had to leave to get her proper bandages and antiseptic ourselves.
Food & Atmosphere: Food was overall enjoyable. The entrees were well-sized and tasty—definitely the high point of the night. Appetizers, on the other hand, were quite small for the price, more like side portions. The hot and sour soup in particular had an odd taste I couldn’t get past (almost chemical-like).
The atmosphere is friendly but admittedly confusing. It has elements that hint at a seafood restaurant, a Chinese spot, and even a karaoke bar or club—but no music playing and a big open space left us unsure of the vibe. It felt like a restaurant still figuring out its identity.
Final Thoughts: I really want this place to succeed. There’s clearly heart and good people here, but it needs some TLC and attention to detail. Addressing safety concerns, staffing, and atmosphere would go a long way toward turning things around. I read several reviews before coming and was hopeful—unfortunately, I can now confirm many of those concerns were valid.
Would I return? Not in its current state. But if meaningful improvements are made, I’d be willing to give it another shot. There’s a good concept here...
