Hello all! I am a native of Bellingham and moved to Southern California about 6 years ago. I am back in Bellingham right now visiting friends and family for the summer months. Having decided to drive here, my fiancé and I brought our 6 month old kitty with us. We are staying in a beautiful place in Fairhaven within walking distance to the ferry docks.
About 30 minutes ago I decided to take our kitty outside for a walk. We visited Mud Bay off of Lakeway and purchased a wonderful harness and bungee leash. Isabel loves to be outside and is loving the trees and vegetation!
We walked down to the ferry docks and came upon what looked like a restaurant/bar. The last time I lived here, it was a skateboard shop.
Obviously I was not going to go in because I had my kitty cat. We walked a bit away from where the people were and I let my kitty sit upon the wooden fence. Suddenly, I was approached by a very rude young man who's demeanor was very superficial. Apparently the bar is a "dog-friendly bar." Excuse me!!!
Long story short: BELLINGHAM: GET OVER YOUR...
Read moreVisiting Bellingham for the weekend and were excited to find this place to share a cold beer after a hot bike ride. Our chihuahuas were a bit nervous from the large dogs rough housing and barking as well as the loud music. We were hoping to find a quiet corner to acclimate them, however we were âgreetedâ at the gate by a red curly haired young man who immediately challenged us in a rude tone asking why we are carrying our dogs. We explained it was a our first time and they were just a bit nervous. He stated âthis is a place for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Other dogs donât like to see flying dogs so we require all dogs to be on the ground. Do you really think this is an appropriate place for your dogs??â. Obviously we left immediately and wonât be returning. This is a great idea but the management is unfortunately unnecessarily nasty. Donât spend your money here. We ended up at Skylark a block away; good food and a great dog...
Read moreWhat a wonderful business model! My BF and I enjoyed a few beers and watched dogs play as people and their furry friends came and went. Since we were on vacay we didn't have our doggos with us, and loved being around all the dogs there.
They have a big covered seating area, so even though it was raining we could enjoy sitting outside. Cute edison bulb string lights across the beams, and plenty of tables and heat lamps. (Didn't get a photo of the covered space for humans unfortunately, was having too much fun!)
Great selection of beers, and a few ciders and wine too! Service was friendly and welcoming, and the music was on point.
Large open space with agility-like things for dogs to climb on and run through, fire hydrants, chuck-its for easy ball throwing, and gravel for easy clean up. During non-covid times, cozy indoor space too with lots of couches and throws for easy relaxing.
Wonderful spot,...
