I used to love this restaurant, but my recent visit left me disappointed and concerned. After being diagnosed with Celiac disease, I was encouraged by their menu, which clearly labels gluten-free options and includes a disclaimer: “Please inform us of any allergies. Our food is prepared in a common kitchen. While we take all appropriate steps to minimize the risk of cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee this.”
Unfortunately, my experience revealed a very different reality. When I asked about cross-contamination precautions, the server informed me that the gluten-free pasta is boiled in the same water as the regular pasta, and that they won’t boil a separate pot. The gluten-free pizza is cooked on a mesh screen in the same oven as regular pizzas, with no barriers to prevent contact with flour or crumbs. These practices aren’t just risky—they’re blatantly unsafe for anyone with Celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
Labeling items as gluten-free while refusing to take basic precautions misleads diners and potentially puts their health at risk. If a kitchen truly takes “all appropriate steps,” that would include separate cooking methods or even a good-faith effort to reduce exposure. Sadly, that’s not the case here. This isn’t just disappointing—it’s dangerous, and I hope they reconsider their approach to allergens and...
Read moreI ordered the Veal picata with a side of capalini. Veal was over cooked and dry. Bread plates came after the bread. It is strictly a pizza joint now. Lots of hustle and bustle. Wait and bus staff now wear various color dirty T shirts and shorts. Seems that they are looking for the fast turn over of tables. The cooks are definitely just glorified line cooks. No self respecting Chef would let veal like that go out of the Kitchen. It was way better when Vesuvio's was there with Anthony the Chef. Don't go for the dinners. Just pizza and maybe a salad. The Summer tourists won't care though.
Visited again as we live in town since 1958. We each had eggplant parmigiana dinners. Waitress commented on our wine. Said she hadn't seen that brand since drinking it in red solo cups in the parking lot in High School. Didn't ask our choice of side pasta. Got a bowl of ziti filled over completely with sauce. I usually order the capalini. Took our wine bottle whe empty and says, "Good girl" to my girlfriend. Tries to rush us out when she is finishing her wine. Barks at us, "so you want coffee and dessert?" Obviously a low class individual. New waitress there. Place is trying to turn tables. Period. Another fast food pizza joint with bows...
Read moreAnother Medical Monday appointment for Kit Dwight and now it's time for Lunch. The full review will be posted after.
The food was delicious, but there was a little disappointment!!!
Today's lunch consisted of an appetizer and a large pizza.
The appetizer was something called stuff onion rings, they were stuffed with sauteed spinach, ricotta cheese, lightly breaded, fries and topped with mozzarella cheese. Served with tomato sauce.
The disappointment was that for $8.95 there were only 2, that's right "2".
Now this appetizer was very delicious, but in the world of onion rings you can't just eat one. Other restaurants usually offer a small or large basket of regular onion rings with or without cheese sauce.
Now maybe we were expecting a little more, but facts are facts, 4 or more rings would of been an appropriate amount.
Each onion ring with all of its ingredients averaged to $.4.48.
Now let's review the pizza, it was their Plain 15" Pie extra crispy. It was baked to our liking with the right crisp, color and marbling of the crust that was nearly perfect.
The cheese and sauce was excellent!!!
The next time, no Stuffed Onion Rings, we'll try another appetizer or...
