Hideaway Empire — Restaurant in Bend

strange strange experience and would never try again. went in so excited to give a local place some business and we were so let down. to start, we watched a line build as they had a "please wait to be seated" sign directly in front of the doorway as you walk in. we never got acknowledged - i watched a group of 9 people behind us leave bc no one would help or talk to anyone.

two different ladies who worked there stared at us for over 10 mins. i finally felt like i had to interrupt their workflow and they said "it's seat yourself" and that the sign is a mistake.

we finally sat and asked for a draft list - very normal for a sports bar. they only have one crumpled sheet of paper at the entire place and when she came to get the list back, i went to order a beer and she said sorry im not your server, took the draft list back and walked away.

Overwhelming and disappointing. They had all the games on but visibility was difficult in the packed restaurant. Food was disappointing, mini corn dogs came out with one drowning in mustard sauce and neither of us like mustard. John Wayne burger was sad and the onion rings on it absorbed all the grease of the burger and left basically just onion and no crunch. Bartender only took the lady’s lunch order and didn’t ask the guy what he wanted and it was so loud we couldn’t correct it. We just shared the burger instead. The service was fine — our server came by quickly and checked in. Unfortunately, the food was completely inedible. I ordered a $20 burger and could barely get through two bites. It was like chewing flavorless rubber, and I honestly don’t know how they made it that bad.

When the server asked how it was, I said I didn’t want a box because it had no flavor. She replied, “Oh yeah, the chef doesn’t use seasoning,” and then just dropped off the bill.
