“Enter at your own risk”. I begin with a question: Is it appropriate to smack down your customers and publicly humiliate them? You decide but we will never offer our business to this restaurant again. It is my responsibility to share our story so that you are aware you may be the subject of disgusting egocentric behavior of a childish chef who has no compunction of publicly humiliating the very people who are paying customers and a management staff who exemplifies an acceptance of this behavior. I have over 20 years in the restaurant business in all roles including management and I am shocked by our story. Here it is: Sometimes a restaurant order goes terribly wrong and at that moment the character of the owner, management and the staff will show their true colors. This review will show you those colors. On Monday Aug. 6th , 2018 the final conflict was about mushrooms not being called out on the menu for the Cauliflower Rice Bowl. Mushrooms are an item with potential serious allergens and for many people present an undesirable texture and flavor causing an extreme dissatisfaction with the entrée. We politely asked our server to return the entrée and make it again without mushrooms. The female chef literally flew off the handle and publicly threw a tyrannical fit literally screaming, yelling and throwing pots and pans on the stove all in the view of the entire restaurant because they have an open kitchen. The chef then walked out on to the main floor in the bar area continuing her rant and made it a point to publicly humiliate us for making such an outrageous request. This employee should have been fired on the spot. The ugly aftermath continued as neither the manager on duty nor our server made any effort whatsoever to approach our table to discuss the matter, offer acknowledgment of what just occurred or God forbid an apology. As a matter of fact from then on, our table of four was ignored and we were unable to get any further service until I asked for our bill. It’s important in this review to also call out at the time of placing our order, we were specific with our server about allergies and she was excellent in checking with the chef and answering our questions and offering to simply steam items that were of allergen risk and we were grateful for their flexibility but we could not have known that mushrooms existed in the dish as they were not called out on the menu and we were publicly disgraced. Our experience of Moose Sisters is abhorrent with despicable behavior of the chef and manager on duty. We will not return and will encourage ALL of our friends, family, co-workers and the general public to consider boycotting this restaurant. Accumulative, we should be able to reach hundreds of otherwise potential paying customers via Google, Yelp, Trip Advisor and others. I am on a mission to take back our sense of pride due to this terribly embarrassing public humiliation, by telling our story. Signs out front should read, “Enter at...
Read moreMy husband and I went out for a Saturday night treat to Moose Sisters Restaurant to celebrate the removal of Oregon's mask mandate. There were only a few tables of customers dining while we were there. We were hugely disappointed in our dinners. We each ordered an entree salad -- not a side salad, mind you, but a meal size. The meal was described under the heading "entree choices," as follows: "Grilled Chicken Breast Caesar Salad." This "entree" arrived In a small, side-salad sized bowl. Included in the "meal" was a very modest amount of "chicken": a heaping tablespoon at best. Period. This was not grilled chicken breast but those all-too-familiar, pitiful cold cubes of damp, clammy, processed "chicken food" -- like you'd find in a pre-Covid fast-food salad bar. With zero flavor, the food was like Woody Allen's joke about airline meals: "So bad and so little of it." The "chicken" cubes were mixed in with a 1/4 cup of limp romaine hearts (no dark leaves at all), about 1/2 cup of unflavored stale-bread chips posing as croutons, and a watery pile of Caesar dressing. (No cracked pepper was offered.) Perhaps one teaspoon of Parmesan cheese out of a Kraft's Ziploc pouch. And that was it. Price per salad? An unbelievable $20. We asked for a bread basket and received 5 transparent (super thin) pieces of sliced bread, toasted and soaked in margarine. Price for this bread was $4.00. For desert, we shared a "Moose Sisters' Own Brownie Hot Fudge Sundae." At a price of $12, this sloppy pile of "desert" was served in an awkward bowl with some brownie crumbles at the bottom (tasted like a cake mix), two scoops of mediocre vanilla ice cream and canned hot fudge. Very sticky sweet with no real flavor or texture. The server stuck in two huge, ill-fitting spoons directly in the bowl, right after placing the dish on the table. These big, heavy soup spoons promptly fell out with a clatter, splashing hot "fudge" all over the table. My husband (who had ordered the same Caesar Salad meal as I did) ate that desert of "hot messiness" all by himself since he was still quite hungry. Finally, the cashier had the audacity to add a $2.24 dollar "check-out fee," which she claimed is an Oregon State fee they "pass on to the customer." With tip we paid $68 for two small, fast-food side salads, a handful of soggy toast and one sundae. You sisters should be ashamed of...
Read moreUnfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewers who had a bad experience and both the server and the owner did not care one bit. I will add the word unethical into the mix, which I don't use lightly.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and had great food and service.
This weekend we were there for a special occasion and went in for a drink. While were were at it we decided to get the steamers and a salad. Two dishes for two people. The server offered to bring out the steamers first and then offered to split the salad into two plates.
When the bill came we were surprised for three overcharges.
I know restaurants get hit with the CC charges so I was not really concerned about that, but when I asked the server about the split charge for the salad and the other two charges she said that there was nothing she could do about them. We paid our bill on and on the way out we saw the owner (who we have had conversations with during the night and seemed nice). She said that they charge that if we asked to split a dish. I let her know we did not ask that they do that and she refused to credit us. I also let her know that we were not told there was an added charge. She did not care in the least. She told us if we were not happy there we could go to a downtown restaurant instead.
I guess she needs the $4 dollars more than a repeat customer. Shame on the server. Shame on the owner. Unethical to charge for something that was not disclosed or asked for.
I gave 2 stars because the food was good, but beware of unscrupulous people. Other reviews have similar experiences. I hope Moose Sisters can get acquainted with customer service again. Used to be...
