Apparently, demanding great Greek food in Bend was too much. So Zeus punished and sent me to Kefi. Where, for some reason, food served Chipotle-style managed nearly five (4.7; 4.6) stars on here and Yelp. But who'd be clueless enough to head to Chipotle for authentic, mind-blowing Mexican cuisine?
I'd been used to independent Mediterranean restaurants full of personality. But, here, I immediately got (figuratively) slapped in the face with a disorienting menu and forgettable branding. By promoting "fast," prepared ingredients were left out, ready-to-serveâor ready to be stale. The brown rice was barely warm. (Also, just warm) gyros pieces already carved before business opening. Flat tzatziki. Watery humus. A couple little slices of thin, reheated end-of-life pita. And everything combined into one bowl (except bread) meant my lunch became cold within minutes and tasted like nothing.
How was it that this fast-food equivalency got such high praises in THIS cityâa magnet to travelers who'd likely have experienced divine Mediterranean/Greek...
Read moreKefi has always been my go-to spot for flavorful, well-priced quick meals. Their food is not only delicious but also reasonably priced for what you get. I love the ability to customize my meal by picking my toppings, proteins, and sauces, which lets me create the perfect bowl every time. The option to add extra toppings for just 50 cents each is a nice touch and keeps everything affordable.
The staff at Kefi is always friendly, and service is consistently fast. Whether you order in-person or online ahead of time, the food is ready quickly, making it perfect for a quick bite or a planned meal. The portions are generousâI often end up saving some of my rice bowl for lunch the next day when I order one for dinner. And unlike many places, they donât skimp on toppings; every bite is full of flavor.
Even with the ongoing road construction nearby, Kefi is definitely worth the visit. I want to see them stay in business because they truly deliver on quality and service. If you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend stopping byâyou wonât be...
Read moreToday was our first visit to Kefi Fast Fresh Mediterranean; but I've had gyros before so this was a comparison. Generally, it was pretty good. I knew what I wanted beforehand. Pita, gyro, tzatziki, cucumbers, tomatoes & onions. I also wanted extra pita & hummus. There was no one seated inside & no line to order (nice!) They offered a gyro with all my requested items + fries on top or inside ( kinda weird, no thank you.) They ask if I wanted tzatziki sauce inside and also did I want raw or pickled onion. What I wasn't expecting was the feta cheese they added. I like feta, but it overpowered the sandwich. My least favorite part of this sandwich should have been the star: the gyro meat. I was expecting very thinly sliced ( almost shaved) meat; but this wasn't. My friend thought it was great, saying, "It has lots of meat!" Maybe I've been spoiled elsewhere; but the hummus was a little grainy. I'm disappointed. I really wanted to...
