Let me start of by saying that this is the first restaurant review that I've ever written. I rarely ever feel moved (if not...just being quite frankly...completely lazy) to write a review for a restaurant. Because I am unusually passionate about this place (I'm probably their number one customer at this point lol..have been ordering at least 1x per week), I'm going to take the time to actually write them a review with thoughtfulness and intention.
Flame Kabob opened recently and I've been taking full advantage of their menu-- It has been a very welcome addition to my neighborhood food delivery options for which I am grateful as I have always been disappointed over the very bland food options in this area.
I am born and raised in greater northeast Philly with a Mediterranean background and genuinely love Afghan food since my childhood. There's been many Afghan joints that have come and gone which has really saddened me. There's one other place in south Jersey that I consider at times for afghan food (when I can't make the trek down to old city)-- however I've noticed that their seasoning/meat selection has definitely decrease in quality over time.
The chicken kabob is very delicious -- they are heavenly, juicy thick cubes of chicken breast which the chefs has ensured a delicate balance of seasoning so that you don't get too much taste of ONE singular spice (which admittedly --really ruins kabobs for me at times-- i.e.: some kabob joints you can literally just taste salt and onion and others have an overpowered garlic and cumin taste). Don't get me started on the AMAZING bread which is freshly baked--- and honestly, a speechless experience. Their store-made white sauce is a staple to any afghan food experience and it's exactly on-point. Lastly, the customer service is also excellent. There has been a time or two where my order wasn't quite right and the people who work there always ensure to make it right in any way they can.
With all of that being said, my only recommendation for this restaurant is that some of the food can be quite greasy at times. So I hope that they consider decreasing the amount of oil in some of their dishes (lentil/eggplant/rice).
I hope they continue to deliver excellence in their food and they only succeed in their business. I am determined to introduce all my friends/family to this place! Highly suggest for everyone to...
Read moreWe went with our colleagues for lunch. Everyone ordered variety of things & I personally have ordered Chicken Kebab platter. It was a pretty huge quantity of food , which included side salad , rice , kebabs , side of chickepeas or eggplant curry which ever you opt for and a humongous piece of naan. This platter costed roughly around 20$, which is a whole lot of food for a person like me. I would say this is good amount for 2 people. I only ate half of the platter which was still so much quantity that I felt so sleepy after my lunch.
The show stopper of the dish was definitely chicken kebabs , they were juicy and tender pieces with a balance flavor of spices. I also have tired their Falafel which were pretty delicious as well. The rice could have been better in my opinion it was lil on oily side and lacked flavor in it. The other draw back is that this platter doesn't come with any sauce , so we have to buy white sauce. It would have been nice to have the white sauce included in the platter given its price.
I would recommend this place to visit if you like to try out their kababs or falafels. Personally I have been to many kebab/ halal food places before, and this place does not reach to my expectations as others.
Overall it was a good place to have lunch with my colleagues and everyone...
Read moreI’m new to the Bensalem area and found this venue by accident while driving by a few months back. Since then, I have become a loyal customer in feeding my family their delicious kabobs. I’m sure they have other delicious dishes but I’m hooked on their lamb kabobs in the platter version. It comes with a most unique side dish which I believe is called qabuli pulao which is delicious long grained rice likely cooked in mutton stock, topped with slivers of carrots and raisins, both adding a sweetness to a banging dish. Additionally, the platters come with a side dish option (garbanzo beans in a sauce or an eggplant option). Topping off a very generous portion of kabobs/pulao the platter comes with a side salad and a gift from heaven with afghani naan bread.
I cannot recommend this venue more for feeding your family, colleagues or business associates. If you don’t like it, I’ll pay for it (irony...
