Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Benton Charter Township

I’ve been to hundreds of Applebee’s in my life… (Even worked at one years ago) … but this location has taken number one. I always get the same mediocre service, I always order the same 2 for $30 meal of an 8oz Sirloin Medium Rare, with Green Beans, and loaded mashed potatoes.

Today… we were blessed and honored to be greeted by Megan. (I hope I spelled it right)… but Applebee’s needs to place her in a restaurant and claim it as her own. She greeted us so warmly and brightly I had to place shades on to dim the radiant ball of sunshine she provided. She was timely with our order, she answered questions, she was extremely attentive, and even went above and beyond in our service. Her service was so impeccable I gave her a tip higher than I’ve ever given anyone. Because of her, my crap show of a day… has now became the best day of my life. I don’t care if the meal was actual dog food… I would still eat it only because Megan served it. I am at a loss of words of this young woman and her service. I am utterly grateful for her impeccable hospitality! Thank you Megan!

Now on to the food. It was hot, my steak was FINALLY made perfectly medium rare and seasoned just right on the palette with a smooth texture on the interior and a grill crisp on the exterior… the loaded mashed potatoes we beautifully garnished, hot, and perfectly portioned. I usually don’t eat bacon or pick the pieces out… but TODAY… I ate all of it and was not disappointed. The green beans were seasoned well, hot, and tender as they should be. So I give a hoorah to the kitchen for this meal and also a high five to Megan again for delivering so timely!

The atmosphere was clean, there were no odd smells, the volume of the music was at an acceptable level, and for the first time in my life… I’m not shaking or sweating to death with the temperature of an Applebees! I greatly appreciate the attentiveness to the customer and making it so homely.

All in all… this location has became the steeple of Applebees and I pray that the name Applebees replicates this location across the globe!

Man… oh man… second time in a week.

This Applebees has won my heart over. Just to test the waters… I came at a different time, ordered a different menu item, had a different server… and AGAIN… I am utterly impressed with the professionalism and hospitality this location shows.

Let’s get into it!

Lauren was our amazing server tonight that was attentive to our taste, answered questions, and I think the best part is that she even took the time to sing with me. You never get good quality caring service like this anymore, this just shows there is still hope in this dark world of hospitality. Lauren greeted us with a smile, she was very knowledgeable about the menu and the different items, and even was patient with my very indecisive coworker. All and all… Lauren is a ball!! ✊🏽

*I also spoke with the manager Dena (I probably spelled it wrong) but Dena greeting customers and speaking with us just made the visit all more worth while! So thank you for making us feel right at home!

Now let’s get to this food… whom ever was in the kitchen for my order ought to own their own restaurant. I ordered the bourbon street chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes and green beans. From the sizzle of the skillet, to the presentation of the plate, all the way down to the seasoned perfect aroma… aroused my taste buds like none other. When I began to cut my chicken, the knife slid through the chicken like butter! I am just roost for words yet again. The flavor of this dish was if I made it at home myself!

If I need to leave a review every visit I have here, I will. Just to share with the world, why this location is top tier and STILL remains the standard of Applebee’s!

On December 2nd, I was driving from Chicago to Detroit but the weather was not permitting. So I pulled into this Applebees to gather myself after one of the scariest times on the road due to ice and snow on the highway making it dangerous and to grab a bite to eat

Kimberly was my waitress and her not knowing my mental and emotional struggle, she was so kind, helpful, friendly and just everything I needed during this troublesome time.

I shared with her that I was attempting to surprise my mom at the nursing home who has had a challenge in all aspects to adjusting to her new norm and she’s been quite ill frequently. While I was in Chicago for Florida visiting my in laws , I just wanted to drive to Detroit to spend time with my mom. The roads was SOOOO so dangerous I couldn’t continue my travels in that direction and I was so sad and discouraged to not only go to Detroit but even back to Chicago. She literally sat with me, listened to my story and gave me words of encouragement that I didn’t know I even needed. I felt like I was talking to friend.

She made me realize there’s still genuine people in this world and real customer service still exists. Not to mention the food was absolutely delicious.

She is a great example to the food and service industry where kindness goes a long way and her passion for going above and beyond “just doing her job” was the comfort that I needed. I hope she gets a raise or some form of accolade for creating such a lasting and memorable moment
