Firstly, i would like to say, that this place has a sign on the wall that offers FREE guacamole to anyone who leaves an online review. So i am pretty sure most of the good reviews are for free guac.
But anyways, i Went here for the first time about a week ago. My mom called me wanting me to bring her home a quesadilla from a different mexican spot, however, el burro was much closer so I decided to go there instead. As soon as i walked in the door i noticed ALL of the employees standing around behind the counter talking to one another. I walked up to the counter and they completely ignored me and continued with their discussion. About 4 minutes later, the cook turned around and abruptly asked me what i wanted. After i told him, i interrupted yet another conversation between the employees to get the key for the restroom. A lady that was working there, who was stirring beans, literally stopped stirring the beans, and with a nasty attitude told me, "well you need to tell us what your order is first." That is when the cook, who i gave my order to directly, told her that i had already placed my order. At this point i was super annoyed by the attitudes of the workers and i just wanted to grab my moms food and leave. So, once i left the restroom the guy at the register looked at me and just read me my total. No your orders ready, no hello, no can i get you anything else.. just "that will be $7.59" it was lame. Lame enough for me to not ever come back. Also, as i said in the beginning, there is a sign on the wall that offers free guacamole to anyone who leaves a review online. So i am pretty sure that most of the good reviews are for free guac. There are PLENTY of tasty places to eat, especially in Berkeley, that also have great customer service. Do not waste...
Read moreI supported this business from the first week it opened and supported it almost on a weekley basis. The owner and his family were often there and it the service and food were good. Tonight I had a basic order of 6 Truck Tacos and 3 Chicken Burritos, when I got home, only 1 Burrito had Chicken, and 2 Burritos had no Chicken.
I called and politely explained the error and asked if they could just deliver 1 Chicken Burrito in exchange. After being interrogated about my order for 5 minutes, the manager reluctantly agreed to send it over.
45 minutes later, after nothing arrives, I call back and they claim they didn't make a mistake and the owner refused to reimburse my order. I explained that I've never had a restaurant refuse to acknowledge their mistake and that I would be forced to Yelp my experience.
His response was to say NO and to hang up in my face!
Its the last time I'll support this businesses and I'll take my business to Guacamole 61 on Shattuck. I can't beleive they would risk losing a long time customer who orsers for a family of 4 and a terrible Yelp review over 2 Burritos they...
Read moreThe food = 3 stars The service = 4 stars Total = 3.5 I had a long day and was craving quesadillas. Their quesadillas made with red chili chicken is one of the best in Berkeley. We called it in and picked it up, but they got my order wrong. I specifically asked for quesadillas and pico de gallo and nothing else (meaning, no sour cream, no lettuce, no guac). We brought it, home and it had everything on it. I called them and informed them that I was very upset about my order. The guy that I spoke to said he was very sorry and that another order of quesadillas will be showing up at my door at no charge. He really wasnt kidding, 30 mins later, the quesadillas showed up + a $5 for the cost of my quesadillas. They informed us that they were really sorry. I was very shocked with this great service. Definitely would recommend the place just for its decent food and...
