Been wanting to get Nashville Hot Chicken in Michigan ever since I had Hattie B's. Lou's hits the spot and is great. Their breading is spot on, flavor of the spice mix is great blend of heat and sweet. Mac and cheese looks to have hot peppers in it as well for an added kick, potato salad is a nice dill flavor, Slaw is great on the sandwiches. Which I'll add the sandwiches have a good sized breast, and good in size. You might end up splitting one and still be full.
Just a note: "southern" spice level has no spice dip on it, they are just plain breaded and fried chicken. So I would at least suggest starting mild.
That being said, I would say, if you're used to authentic Hattie B's or Prince's spice, try one spice level higher than you'd figure, especially if you get the sandwich as the sauce/mayo/bun cut down on the heat. I've got the sandwich in their hottest offering and it was spicy gets your nose running, but not overly spicy by any means. Not really a bad thing, as their hottest spice level is perfect for me. I would say, don't be afraid of going up a spice level or two to try it. You really gotta have the spice with the hot chicken though to get the full experience. It's got a great smokey and sweetness to back...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Little Lou's Hot Chicken and I have to say, it was a true culinary delight! The sandwich was absolutely perfect - the spice was clucking hot (pun intended) and the chicken was so moist and juicy. But the real standout for me were the crinkle cut fries - they were just amazing. Plus, the ambience at Little Lou's was top-notch - the decor was stylish and the staff were all super attractive and friendly. In fact, I was tempted to ask for a job application just so I could bask in the glow of their attractiveness on a daily basis. All joking aside, the employees at Little Lou's really added to the overall dining experience and made it a memorable one.
But the best part? Little Lou's also has a food truck, and let me tell you, I will be stalking the location of that truck to get my hands on more of their delicious hot chicken and fries. Trust me, it's that good. So if you're in the mood for some seriously delicious hot chicken and fries, and you want to surround yourself with some attractive and friendly staff, give Little Lou's a try! You won't be...
Read moreThey say "hot chicken" and they mean it. The powder coating ought to warn you -- a rich russet shade that screams 'delicious mouth burning happiness'. Don't order here thinking that 'hot' means a wimpy little puff of heat, but instead, it calls on the best Louisville tradition to ease you into that first juicy bite before the heat wallops you in the tongue.
That's to say it's a bit of a smoky heat, and one that doesn't overpower the delicious blend of spices and herbs (?) that coat the generous portions of chicken tenders, wings or burger patty, depending on what you order. I admit I needed a bit of milk to get though dinner, but the flavour profile on Little Lou's chicken coating is so deep and rich, it's worth the tasty punch.
Portion sizes are extremely generous. Order less than you think you need because you get a lot of chicken and some pretty darn good fries. We ordered two adult meals and a kid's meal for three, and ended up with enough food for a crew of five. Not complaining at all, but we were delighted!
Top notch food, great service, and a welcome addition...
