Taco Bell always has a line-up, as one of the more popular fast food places in Berkley. Drivers politely squeeze into the expansive drive-thru lane that snakes its way out into the bike lanes at prime time, typically dinner. Be prepared for busy traffic situations!
Taco Bell's got an extensive menu and this location delivers pretty decent food, but they suffer from inconsistent staffing and quality in their employees. I've never seen such hit and miss service. My last visits involved surly service -- an employee snapping at me that they don't offer a menu item, and another they were out of an ingredient (which wasn't posted) as if I committed a cardinal sin asking. No worries, things run out, but don't get grouchy at me. A few employees don't seem to prioritize customer service very much, which makes me think they're an unfortunate fit for food services, that location, or that shift.
Food quality is good, the building is clean and quite new, and location is second to none for the area. It's nothing special as far as a fast food joint goes. They serve the regular Taco Bell menu. Delivery of meals or timely processing at the drive thru is sorely lacking, though, but better to go here than drive halfway across...
Read moreI will never ever go here again. I saw the drive thru was in the street obstructing traffic so I parked on a side street and went inside and of course had to order via machine. I get done and am waiting 15 minutes until a woman tells me they are not accepting cash. I asked her why she didn’t have that fact posted somewhere so no one would be standing there forever only to find out they stood there for nothing. What about those people in line at the drive thru waiting even longer? Absolutely the worst customer service ever. And the person that spoke to me was rude and acted like she didn’t give a flying f—-k what I thought. That’s the kind of people you want working there? Real nice job. I’m a nurse, I have been working this whole pandemic with patients and families who’s hearts I had to break by telling them they couldn’t be together. I never took their anger personally because I knew how awful they must have felt. Some called me names and got so angry I had to call security to protect myself and my coworkers. I still never treated even the angriest folks like that. Might seem simple to you, but everyone has been through hell and people will remember how they were treated. Really shame on...
Read moreWhat a friggin mess. 3+ minutes before the staff even noticed the line waiting.
Couldn't understand the employee because he mumbled the whole time. He couldn't hear anyone telling him their order because of the music blaring behind the counter. Making it worse he had zero clue how to use the register.
Place was a filthy disaster. Had to fight to pry my feet from the floor with each step. The counter was only slightly less sticky. Maybe 10 random lids for the cups, unwrapped straws in their tray (WHY?). Condiment counter should be reclassified as contaminated counter. No clue what was all over. No napkins in the dispensers. The grilled items were charred, hard tacos were mostly cracked and the nacho cheese tasted like they added a ton of salt. And several options at the pop machine were just spitting out some form of nasty carbonated water.
But the crowning achievement was the employee who bumbled taking the order hands me the receipt. Points at something on it very emphatically. Took him a few tries to finally get the words out so I could understand him, but he wanted me to fill out the survey BEFORE I got my...
