Rita's is always great, and as a high risk person for Covid I am limited to places I feel safe going to fully masked. This location is always masked and following all health standards and virus mitigation efforts, and requires their customers to be masked when in line and ordering as well. Everyone there has been very kind and respectful of my space and staying masked up and protected. I don't feel glared at or judged, and I can trust that no employee has breathed microscopic saliva all over my ice cream.
The custard is amazing, I am from Seattle and when my family comes to visit we take them to get custard at Rita's cause its just so darn good and rich and different than anything I have had in Seattle. The strawberry ice is our favorite flavor for the italian ice, it is full of chunks of real strawberry and tastes like real strawberry, not a flavoring. So good. I got a custard sunday with hot fudge and whipped cream, it was huge and delicious. $5 for a small vanilla custard? Yikes! Don’t get me totally wrong here - yes, we’re paying for a brand name and yes, it’s surely high quality, so I do understand. Plus you have to account for labor, but at the same time, it’s still not all THAT great especially given the portion size. This was the last time I’ve been to Rita’s and probably will be for a while - not so much worth it anymore.
If you’re going to pay that much for ice cream and enjoy a fun family experience while you’re at it, you may be better off looking into other more localized operations such as the wonderful Bruster’s and Tasty Kreme (consumers beware - they only take cash but the Rite Aid next door does have an ATM if...
