This was by far one of the worst expirences I have ever had. We traveled all the way from Ohio for a wedding. The wedding we went to was right across the street, so naturally after the ceremony a group of us head to atomic cafe to get a drink maybe a snack to hang out before we head to the reception. Two people from our group got their food and beers and sat at the bar. While my husband and I went to get our drinks and food, the girl at the register asked for a second form of ID because we were from out of state. Absolutely fine! We hand her our debit cards, social security cards, anything else in our wallet.... Nothing was good enough. So half of our party got served half didn't... Now we are in a fun situation aren't we? The girl at the register was rude and seemed irritated that we didn't quite understand the policy since half our group got served with no problem and now here I am, just shy of 30 years old trying to fight for my right to a small glass of wine. While our poor friends try and chug their beers so that we can leave the place... I ask to speak to the manager... The one nice kid in the joint says ya that's fine he will find someone for me... The manager is even more irritated "well what do THEY want " well "they" were sitting right and front of him so we just asked to make sure the girl was correct about the policy and then simply asked how could that be the policy of the other half of party didn't even get carded. He said he could probably get us a drink ... Well ya kid look I'm a manager I actually train all new managers for retail stores and let me tell u how this situation should have been handled so that your bosses don't have to. The cashier should have expressed her concern that half of the party was served and now her customers can't be.. The manager should have came over and apologized for the inconvenience and said that is indeed the policy and someone did their job wrong that's why our friends got served and showed empathy. Or accommodated us based on the fact we had every other card in our wallet including picture Ids and apologized for the hassle. Either way, it was handled wrong and if the owners don't want traveling people in their location and the managers don't want to be accommodating do yourselves a favor and put a locals only sign up...

Ordered an Egg and Cheese and a Cucumber Deluxe (gluten free) and a regular Cucumber Deluxe this week.
Egg and cheese was actually inedible. The cheese? was a texture that could not be swallowed.. so maybe more of a gum or rubber product and less of a cheese? The egg was super overcooked... I might never eat egg and cheese again.. after two bites and two days I can still feel that rubbery cheese that can't be swallowed. Kind of horrifying (as food goes).
Cucumber Deluxe (both gluten free, and regular) were super dry... and were basically this: a couple of cucumber slices, a couple of tomato slices, one piece of munster cheese, and some sprouts. No wonderful Deluxeness. The gluten eating person in my family said it was maybe edible but not at all tasty. The Gluten free was toasted to the point that the bread was sharp? Generally a gross experience.... We all have an off day but also it is the second off day they have had... I would say some people are probably amazing at coffee and less amazing at food? Tasted like the person making them hates their job.
Initial Review: Cucumber Deluxe is a legend here. Everyone we know that we have bought them for love them. Thanks for getting us through some hungry and dreary days. Also a solid choice for life saving coffee. Some real gluten free desserts would be nice, but can't complain too much (I can, but it seems...
Read moreI have been a customer of Atomic for many years, since they were at their previous location. They have steadily been doing downhill.
This morning, I ordered a simple breakfast sandwich and coffee to-go. The crowd was about average. 20 minutes went by, during which I saw other customers who came after me receive their food and leave. I asked to check on my order, they came back and said it would be another 5 minutes. At this point the place was empty, no one waiting. Another 5 minutes goes by; I check on the order again. This time I am offered a donut as a distraction. I told them I didn’t want a donut, just the food I ordered. They said they would check. Another 5 minutes went by, I told them I wanted to cancel my order. They tried to say it would be out soon, but when they asked the kitchen about it she just shrugged her shoulders. I asked what the problem was, they just said it was busier than usual. At this point the restaurant had no other customers waiting, and the kitchen staff wasn’t working on anything. Seems like they just chose to never make it. After over 30 minutes waiting at Atomic, I went somewhere else and got my food within 5 minutes. Atomic, you have lost a 10+ year customer. For anyone else: there are a lot of great coffee spots in downtown Beverly, there is no reason to put up with long wait times and the outrageous prices at Atomic. Try another spot and you’ll be much...
