This was my first time here since a bad experience a couple years ago I previously left a review for and decided to give them a second chance. While the food was great (after several corrections were made to the order) the service left much to be desired and left me feeling like a burden on their business rather than a guest. The waitress was very rude when we asked for separate checks, and made sure to let us know that while itâs something they do, it will take her longer and she doesnât like it. The restaurant was less than half full at the time. The waitress then got upset when my visiting friends brought out their out of state IDâs, she said those are not valid to buy alcohol in Mass and another photo ID is required. This is not the law in Massachusetts, out of state IDâs are allowed to buy alcohol. When we questioned her on it she went to get her manager and explained she didnât know the rules. The manager then told us anything else with a name was acceptable, so at some point the rules changed. The manager told us they were expecting a âstingâ sometime soon, sometime I imagine you should not be announcing to your patrons. After we finally received our at this point well earned drinks, we ordered food. My gluten free friend asked for a gluten free bun due to an allergy. The waitress first said he should have told her earlier, even though no food had been put in yet. She then asked him 3 times if it was an allergy or just diet, he explained it was an allergy the vibe we got back was it would cause more trouble for the restaurant. We have lived in Beverly for several years, while the food here is decent the vibe feels like a 99 and the staff are very unwelcoming. During our whole meal the manager was continuing to look over at us, we felt pressured to leave. If you have company down and want to show them a good time, donât make my mistake and take them here. There are many great spots to eat with nice, welcoming staff...
Read moreFirst time coming here since I have lived in Beverly. I have been wanting to try this place, even though most of the meals on the menu are NOT vegetarian friendly. The atmosphere was very unwelcoming. It's a cute atmosphere. It has a Bistro vibe, pinball machine and some other games (I couldn't tell you what they were. I love pinball most of all!!)
First, my friend who forgot their ID wasn't welcomed to drink - which I understand. I tried to vouch for her, but I understand that the law is that law. I ordered two shots and a drink to get myself started. I do have a loud personality. I do talk loudly, I laugh loudly. I am a loud person. I know that. I have also have always had a hard time understanding social interactions on a neurodivergent level, so it's has been hard for me to understand more social que's. I also always seem more intoxicated than I am, even though I am a person with a high alcohol tolerance.
I was told by management to quiet down while my friend & i were sitting outside, because I was laughing too loud. It wasn't in a professional manner. The manager on duty asked us to "shush". Our server was friendly at first, but quickly turned when the manager on duty came up to our table. I understand and respect wanting to keep a calm atmosphere. But I think it wouldn't have been different if there was a sorta fan sitting at the bar watching a game. My friend & I were enjoying ourselves. But because due to my loud personality, she cut me off after one drink and one shot. My friend & I went to our usual bar down the road, where the people that are MUCH kinder & give a personable experience.
I'm not trying to discourage people from coming here. The food was great, especially from a not vegetarian friendly place. But I wouldn't go back for the unwelcoming atmosphere. It felt like i was in a terrible mean girl movie. I really recommend Indo for their kind & personable...
Read moreWe arrived Sunday during brunch. Made our food orders. Wasn't very busy at all when we got there still had to wait 20 minutes for the food maybe a little longer.. some of the food came cold. They forgot one of our parties burgers. When they brought the last plate I tried catching her attention but she left too quick. Want to let her know they forgot to put butter on the toast. Not a biggie. Finally around 10 minutes later one of our waitresses finally made an appearance at the table again and I let her know about not having any butter on The toast. And by then my breakfast is getting cold. Then they bring out one piece of bread cut in half and that's what the menu calls two pieces of toast. And by then everybody was finishing their meal and mine was cold so I didn't bother eating in. Ask for orange juice never got it. And it was pretty slow when he first got there. This is the second time we've gone there in a few months where there's been maybe one or two other parties in there and the waitress doesn't find a need to come back to the table at all to check to see if we need a drink refilled or anything. I might expect that when it's busy I do not expect that at all when it's dead. We're very gracious customers good sense of humor and we tip well. And when I was showing I think was the hostess the toast she said I don't have to look at her like that. Again have no idea what she was talking about. And the top it off no apologies for any of the mistakes. I'm in customer service if I screw up I apologize profusely. I remember the customer is my paycheck. Well that was 0 for 2 our last two visits. We will probably give it one more try but strike three and we won't bother again. There are just too many good restaurants out there to tolerate that...
