My wife and I ate here Friday, July 14th.

The average review was 4.3, which is the same as another local restaurant we really like, so we decided to give it a try.

We read the reviews and it seemed as if there were a number of regulars who rated it high and a few people who trashed it.

As a person who eats a lot of sushi I can honestly tell you it's fair; not good, not bad and definitely not a 4.3.

I'm pretty sure the 5 star ratings are from locals and the 1's from out of towners, but this place is neither. It's a 3.

The decor is definitely circa 1980, which would be OK if it was well maintained and they weren't using tables as take out counters, but it isn't and they were. That in and of itself would still not be a deal breaker if the service was really good, but it wasn't. They were attentive (that was said and is true), but they have none of the standard server etiquette that one would expect. They reach over you, forget to clean the tables, etc. Still, if the food was great then it wouldn't be a total loss, but it's not. The sushi is actually room temp, not cool at all, and it's cut poorly. Even here in Scranton, PA the sushi chefs know how to present fish better than at Kame. The cuts weren't clean, they didn't show a consistent grain pattern and the rice was definitely reheated, several times. There was 1 review that said that the patron felt ill afterwards; it was probably the rice. If you reheat it too many times it begins to ferment and it causes gas. I had a lot of gas that night.

Bottom line, if someone invited me there (and insisted on that venue) I wouldn't refuse, but I'll never go back voluntarily. It's definitely a first and...

I’m not even sure where to start. We came at a weird time so the place was obviously empty. The service was good. The food was absolutely terrible. I took one bite and knew immediately that it was not fresh and not prepared properly. We ordered 3 rolls and a ramen. The rolls were inedible, I actually was gagging and thought I may vomit. I figured that the ramen would be edible, at least if it wasn’t actually ramen it still is noodles and broth- easy, nope, also absolutely disgusting. I should’ve realized sooner. When we were sitting and I started to overhear conversation in another language. I listened closely, didn’t sound Japanese because it wasn’t! it was Chinese. Now I’m ok with that except that this was terrible food. The music playing I noticed was also Chinese. Why not just make Chinese food instead of really awful fake Japanese food??? It’s such a cute area with lots of nice looking restaurants and I picked the absolute worst one. And it wasn’t cheap. Over $50 (not including tip) for 3 rolls and a ā€œramenā€ with no drinks or appetizers. I think the waitress realized that we were not happy with it but said nothing. I didn’t say anything, I’m the ā€œpick your battlesā€ type. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Not sure how they got a 4.6, totally misleading or provided by people who have no clue what...

The 4-star rating made me hopeful we had found good local sushi. We stopped by today for an early lunch and left feeling disappointed and ill. The service Ā was fine but the fish was not at all fresh, and smelled it. The tuna/California roll they list as a Christmas roll reeked of old fish. I took the tuna on top off but this didn't much improve the roll as it was missing cucumber and the avocado was riddled with brown spots. My companion, who got their lunch special was served a plate of flavorless, dry fish as it seems they pre-cut the fish slices. It looked like it had just been sitting out in a fridge to dry out. The rolls were poorly put together and were just a mess. We also got a crab roll that was made so salty it was almost inedible. Really most of the food they served was inedible and ended up staying on the plate. The only highlights were that they forgot my companion's extra roll so we were spared another fishy atrocity and that there was ginger on the plate to try and get rid of the lingering flavor of their food. This is by far some of the worst sushi I have had in a long time and will likely spend the afternoon under my blanket willing the memory of...

I had been hearing great things about this wonderful family owned sushi šŸ£ šŸ± restaurant in Beverly. Extremely warm and friendly and very well staffed with four sushi chefs. All of the sushi was fresh and delicious. We loved the sashimi and hand rolls! The tuna maki was delish! Street parking is available and there is a big lot a block away on Story Street. Not cheap, but you are paying for quality.

This food was absolutely incredible! I went out with a couple friends and we each ordered probably two rolls, then a main dish. The sushi came out nice and quick, with a generous amount of ginger and wasabi, and the Udon was such a generous portion! Overall loved the atmosphere, quality of food, and service (though it was a teensy bit expensive, but worth it.)

Stopped in for lunch after touring a nearby college. Kame is warm and clean and the staff is friendly and inviting. We had maki. Nice variety of available rolls. They were well made, fresh and tasty. Definitely try the Tako Yaki. First time for me and I will now get them everywhere I see them on a menu. So good.
