PROS: Plenty of space, no loud music, public restrooms, free street parking.
CONS: Rocky as you approach the water
I came here today, a Sunday in July, looking for a beach on the North Shore to spend an hour or two with my daughter. I was able to park on the street 2 blocks away and walk 3 minutes to get here. It was low key, with shallow water for hundreds of yards out.
It’s not a perfect beach, but I’m giving it 5 stars for the ease of parking and the low key vibe.
It was rocky for about 20 feet as you approach water, but there’s plenty of sand away from the waterline to pitch your chairs. You may want to bring water shoes if your feet are sensitive or for your kids.
The tide was pretty low and we set up near the bathroom. So if it’s low tide and you want to swim, you will need to walk into the ocean for a few minutes. A lot of kids here, but no loud music and everyone enjoying the mellow summer.
And did I mention I didn’t have to pay for parking? That’s my...
Read moreBeverly, you want to become a trashy town? DO BETTER! Went to Dane Street Beach today with my family and was disgusted with the amount of trash on the beach, and in the ocean. Plastic all over the place. Get some trash cans, give someone a job and pay someone to clean them! Simple!
“But the rules are, take out what you take in” well guess what? People don’t follow the rules! Obviously! DO BETTER! I shouldn’t have to spend my beach time picking up trash from people when you could simply have trash cans. People are more opt to throw their trash in trash cans than take it with them if it’s an option. If there is no option then these people just toss it on the beach and say “whatever”. Also while you’re at it, remove the graffiti off of the walls and bathrooms. Get some cameras or something to help with catching whoever these terrible people are putting graffiti all over the place.
Besides the trash and graffiti, it’s an absolutely beautiful beach, nice sands and the...

Parking is free on-street; sometimes you've gotta park a block or two away, but no further than lots at other beaches.
Playground is ultra-modern with cool, unusual elements, plus a nautical theme featuring a fishing boat, mermaid, and (partially) 3-D marine life seek-and-find.
Wide beach with nice sand at the top, pebbles and small stones by the water (varies by tide, of course), very shallow with cute little waves. Nice views of the Sound, islands, the Willows, etc.
Bath house is open business hours in the summer (changing room and bathrooms), with lifeguards during the same hours. Lots of rules (no tents, no umbrellas, no floats), but of course they're only enforced when guards are there. Picnic...
