I feel bad writing this review, but after getting sick (not food poisoning, but definitely went right through me…) from takeout last night, I had to say something.
I have tried this restaurant twice now. The first time I went alone and sat at the sushi bar. I ordered seaweed salad and two spicy salmon rolls. The rolls were 6 small pieces of sushi each, and didn’t taste super fresh. Seaweed salad was good. $32 for the three items seemed outrageous for what I received both in taste and portion.
Last night I got takeout, and was so disappointed and on top of which felt nauseous from eating. I ordered the spring rolls, the dynamite roll, and the shitaki mushroom roll.
Spring rolls were a flop. They had almost a sour taste to them, and I ended up not finishing.
The dynamite roll was almost hot from the cooked seafood on top, which was overcooked and rubbery (I believe it was eel? there was also maybe asparagus in it? I couldn’t really tell, and I’m kicking myself for not taking a picture because it looked completely different from the photo on their ordering website). Barely any tuna in the roll itself, mostly avocado. The whole thing was a wet mess. $16.50 for this was outrageous for the quality.
The shitaki mushroom roll was fine, but the mushrooms were unevenly cooked and too thick, which made for an unpleasant eating experience.
Service was lovely when I dined in and also when I picked up, however it won’t make up for the food. For the price and quality, there are many other places in town to go and get better food.
I...

I really wanted to like this place based on the extensive menu and colorful presentation, but it turned out to be a major letdown.
I ordered from both the sushi and kitchen sections, and everything felt like it came from a generic takeout spot rather than a “fine kitchen.” The Tuna Tower Salad was over $13 and arrived looking sad and barely fresh — mushy tuna and flavorless avocado. The spicy tuna nachos were even worse, drowning in sauce and served on soggy chips.
The sushi was no better. I tried the Nigiri Lover Boat for $30+ and was shocked at how mediocre everything tasted. The rice was clumpy and over-seasoned, and the fish did not taste fresh at all — bordering on questionable. For a restaurant advertising itself as “fine,” it’s absurd to charge this much for such low-quality sushi.
I also ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Dinner, which came out lukewarm and bland. It tasted like something from a mall food court. Even the miso soup was weak and watery.
Service was rushed and indifferent — felt like they just wanted to turn tables instead of actually providing a good experience.
Bottom line: too expensive for the quality, and nothing stood out in flavor, freshness, or service. With so many great Japanese and Thai options around, I won’t be...
Read more’m honestly confused by the hype around this place. The menu is huge, colorful, and gives off the vibe that you’re in for something special — but don’t be fooled. Takami is a classic case of style over substance.
I ordered the Tokyo Pizza and a Poke Bowl with Tuna, and both were a complete waste of money. The Tokyo Pizza was greasy, barely warm, and the fish tasted off. The poke bowl came with wilted greens and flavorless tuna — no seasoning, no texture, just overpriced filler.
Tried a few things off the “dinner from the kitchen” section too, including the Chicken Pad Thai. Huge portion, zero flavor. It was sweet, mushy, and didn’t taste remotely authentic. Honestly, a microwave meal would’ve had more personality.
The worst part? Prices that make you think you’re eating at a high-end fusion spot — $18 for basic entrees and nearly $30 for sushi platters that taste pre-made. It feels like they put all their effort into the menu design and forgot they actually have to serve good food.
Staff was disinterested, borderline rude when we asked about missing soup with the entree, and the whole place just had a rushed, chaotic vibe.
If you’re looking for good Thai or sushi, keep moving — Takami is all flash...
