Warning** If you have any allergy precautions, do not go to GrassyRoots In Beverly.
I can’t in good conscience give them more than 1 star because of their negligence for safe food handling practices. Allergy awareness should be taken very seriously each and every time it is flagged on a dish. Luckily my allergic reaction happened while in the presence of medical professionals who could make sure I would be ok.
I ordered a chicken Caesar salad wrap which per their website includes grilled chicken, shredded romaine and Parmesan with Caesar salad dressing on a white wrap. I added extra carrots and included on the notes/ modifications/ allergy line: “Pork and Avocado Allergies!!”
As you can see this dish doesn’t normally include neither pork nor avocado, but you should always alert staff of an allergy and since there are several dishes on their menu that do include these items I wanted to be sure this was flagged and noted.
When our food arrived, I quickly picked out my wrap since it was the only chicken Caesar salad wrap that had carrots added to it.
Because avocado doesn’t have much of a distinct taste on its own, I didn’t realize it was in there until it was too late and I’ve already eaten almost half of it.
I asked my colleague if she had any avocado in her unmodified chicken Caesar salad wrap and said there was not.
So, somehow the employee at Grassy Roots read my avocado allergy and decided to instead ADD avocado to the wrap. I would have preferred them not read it at all because then it probably wouldn’t have happened. But again, because I did the right thing of alerting staff of my allergy, I suffered a traumatizing reaction and had to leave work mid day.
Then, when my colleagues called to tell them about their severe mistake, their response was an offer to refund my wrap. It’s wild that this restaurant thinks any problem they create through their clear carelessness can be solved by assigning a 17 dollar price tag on my life.
It’s easy to make mistakes when you’re busy, I get it, but making a mistake on an allergy is serious and could end up killing someone. This can’t be glossed over. Do better.
Again, If you have any allergy precautions- this is not a safe place...
Read moreGrassy Roots catered an event at my home for 50 people. I wanted a healthy, simple, elegant menu, creatively presented. From the moment I met with Lindsey( manager), I felt I was in good hands. She took the time to help me create a menu from a varied list of creative options. From personal experience, I knew the food would be delicious, however I did not expect the team to visit my home beforehand to help me decide how I wanted to present and serve the food, as well as how they could help in ordering supplies or any extras that I might want. Jenny, the cook even made a special trip to my house to view my platters & gather caserole dishes that she prepared the food in. The food was delicious and the catering staff was friendly, efficient, and left my kitchen as spotless as they found it. I highly recommend Grassy Roots for a quick lunch, or to help you plan and cater your next...
Read moreEmployees had their laptops and works stuff out on the few tables and counters that there were to sit at. Food was below average. Soup under flavored. It’s says salads and bowls…to me a bowl is usually warm but the Buddha bowl is cold which means it’s a salad… it was on greens and with cold veggies. Wasn’t even freshly made. Definitely pre made sitting in a fridge. None of the meat says grass fed or organic neither do the vegetables. $47 for a soup, SALAD and 2 lattes…one chai latte and one tumeric latte. Tumeric latte was so strange. Wrong milk was used. Save your money and go to organic garden or life alive in Salem. This place is a complete gimmick and shouldn’t even be open. It seems like a stay at home mom thought she made good healthy food and opened a business with no actual...
