Interesting experience. Never would have expected a " High Tea" to be like a service at such a casual setting. Was unexpected.
Pleasant enough though. Atmosphere was pleasantly lighthearted and definitely not formal. Totally casual attire and not what a typical high tea usually entails.
Host was pleasant. Table was nicely set with lovely bone china tea" mugs". Very pretty and springy themed. Each person was presented w thier owl little jars of jam and honey... also interesting, keeping w the informality theme. Tea's were very good. We tried the Jackie Kennedy , pixie dust and La Bella Rose. All very light and tasty. Apt description to the flavor profiles.
Tea sandwiches were very tasty. Tge duck was absolutely the best of them all. Extremely flavorful. Madelline's and scones were definitely one of the highlights. Macaroons were a little dense and a bit over sweet. The cream puffed swans were adorably delightful. Vanilla whipped cream was tasty and perfectly balanced; not too sweet. Was overall a pleasant experience. So if you're looking for a very informal High Tea type experience in a very casual setting and atmosphere, definitely a place to try.
Personally I think if I was in area again, I'd probably get a pot of tea, an actual full sandwich ( they have a great menu selection) maybe some madelline's and call it a success!
FYI: if not from area( we were not) parking can be difficult to find. Street parking or side street seemed only options available. No parking lot. Also it's paid parking past 20 minutes... so another thing...
Read moreHonestly, we were really disappointed in the high tea experience. We booked a vegan option and a regular. In the Salem location, the vegan option is awesome. The website didn’t note that Beverley doesn’t have the same vegan options. For $40, the vegan option was a handful of berries, one chunk of cucumber with a spread on top, and a pot of tea. So of the 6 savory options they brought, only 1 was vegan…it was genuinely so disappointing. The service was also awful. Our server kept confusing gluten free and vegan, she didn’t explain which options were vegan on the tray, she mixed up the tea we signed up for, and she originally told us the macarons were vegan twice (they weren’t and we had to get her to confirm with the kitchen). We think our server doesn’t understand what vegan means and didn’t explain the sandwiches correctly, but when we tried to confirm, she’d start talking about almond flour and saying she wasn’t sure. If you’re vegan, please don’t waste the money on a cucumber and a...
Read moreWent here with a group of girls for teas and yapping. We went because the book we read for bookclub was based on such setting so we wanted to celebrate because when is girl time ever a bad idea? We all got dressed up in theme. We had made a reservation weeks before and they do charge you the full amount a few days prior. Each person gets their own individual tea pot. You get to choose from a wide variety of flavors. For the food, you get a choice of cucumber tea sandwich, salmon gougere, smoked duck gougere, mini ham and brie, lemon scone, vanilla madeleine, french macarons, and a delicious pastry swan. Everything was delicious. We were 12 received 3 setups like this. There were some dietary restrictions that were honored. Overall it was very quiet in there, felt like we had the space to ourselves so it was very nice. I was extra happy about the availability of free street parking (it...
