Came here after seeing such positive reviews, to say the least I am very let down. Walking in was a good vibe, real authentic feel so I especially had high hopes. Let me start by saying I love tacos, it's my favorite food. I love all kinds of tacos, white people tacos, street tacos, authentic mexican tacos. but these tacos were borderline terrible. The carne asada was essentially dried out, boiled or something, not seared, roast beef rubber texture. No flavor except like a hint of freezer burnt, and very dry. Not even diced up and seared like normal carne asada is. Instead, strips. I tried 3 kinds of tacos. Here is how I would rate them. Tinga (pork taco) Was a 3/5. Meat was decent, there was a yummy sauce on it. But the hot sauce, was unbearable. (coming from someone with a very high heat tolerance) im thinking by my enthused yes when asked if i want cilantro, onion, and hot salsa she may have taken it for extra hot salsa? Or maybe they have upped their spice level according to prior reviews saying it was bland. Regardless, the spice level was insane and I genuinely cant imagine anyone being able to handle it. The water offered was gross tasting and definitely tap, so it was hard to wash the heat down haha. Carne asada taco was 0/5. Chicken and potato was 2/5 (had some weird tomato paste flavor) All tacos were almost inedible due to the overly hot salsa that had no real flavor other than H O T. I didnt feel the flavors complimented eachother, and the carne asada was 100% not fresh. & No lime!? :( I am so sad to be leaving this review as I heard nothing but good things. As someone that ventures out and tries tacos everywhere, the best we have in billings is los mayas! Head there for some carne asada tacos, you won't be disappointed! Unfortunately I was also charged incorrectly as well. I overpaid but i just looked at it as a donation. The lady working was very very sweet and provided excellent customer service, because of her I considered not even leaving a review. She added a star making my review 2 stars / 5 We wish you nothing but success on your business, which I'm sure you will continue getting as I know many people that love La Tinga! This was just...

I've been coming here for at least 8 years and it could possibly be 9. At one point in time when I worked close by I was in there at least 3 days a week. I've never had something here that wasn't incredible. I haven't been in for a while and I was eating the fish tacos and the food was even better than I remembered which is saying something because this is my favorite Mexican food I've ever had, even in California, even in Mexico. The salsas are called "hot" and "less hot" and they're not messing around (not agonizing or anything but definitely has a great kick). Evelyn is a wonderful lady with a giant heart and is an incredible cook. When people come from out of town and ask me what's good to eat in town, La Tinga is always my first response. I'm so excited to see that they are having dinner hours on Friday night through the summer.

I can't recommend this place highly enough, if you're looking for the best Mexican food in town, you've...

Yikes do u see how this business owner reply’s back to the bad reviews? Much pride? Anyways, my experience was this. Prices are like everywhere in Billings. It’s alright but I’m use to getting big portions at Mexican restaurants. I got my breakfast burrito and i was like oh that’s cute. It was ok tho. They got the red sauce and cilantro that they put on it… A customer called in and the employee talked for a bit then hung up on her! The customer called back and the employee left her on her phone and just let her talk to herself. lol it was sad but comical how an employee was doing this to their potential business. Then she took a guys order in Spanish but after the phone called seemed irritated with him too. Bad day maybe? Idk I was hoping for something great with all their reviews but maybe they ate something I haven’t tried but I don’t want to go back...

My favorite authentic Mexican spot in Billings. Be warned it is EXPENSIVE for food truck style Mexican food. $19.5 for 1 person. 2 tacos and 1 3 inch quesadilla, with bottle soda. $4 to $5 a small street taco, $7 for a small tinga quesadilla (3 1/2 inches). Carne Asada was my least favorite, not much flavor. The pork venono was incredible and the chipotle tinga was delicious. Both were pretty spicy. However the flavor is incredible, the people are amazing; so welcoming. If they could get there pricing down or portion size up (a $1 on the tacos and $2 on quesadilla) they definitely could last. The spot was packed but everyone was commenting on how small it was. The look of disappointment was pretty apparent. I don't think they'll get repeat customers due to cost. It would take $25 to get full here.

First of all - the food is really good. Really really good. But best of all - we were on a long long long road trip and needed some decent food. Walked in - seat yourself. The proprietress and her mother are behind the long red bar/counter and she chats back and forth, and writes down everyone's name and most of the orders. She called everyone by name after that (we were almost the only ones in this very small place) and worked really hard to find something our super picky teenager would like. We felt like we had just come into our favorite Auntie's home. The kind that just envelops you and feeds you and makes you feel like a million. I can't guarantee everyone will get that - it's a tiny place and I'll bet it gets super busy sometimes. But it was just what we needed.
