Here's what I ate at Bistro Joe's inn Birmingham Michigan. I started with an old fashioned cocktail. They had their own twist on the cocktail, very delicious. For my meal I went with two appetizers which they call "Snacks" on their menu. I had the sticky ribs and brussel sprouts. I'm not a fan of truffles so I requested that the brussel sprouts not have any truffle oil on them and they were excellent. The kitchen had no problem leaving the truffle oil off. So if you're not a fan of truffle oil, but you love brussel sprouts try these!
I enjoyed the ambiance in the restaurant. The table settings are really cute and the white rose and the candles make it elegant. The balcony view into the grocery store is really unique as well.
Some friends and I went for a group dinner on Sunday evening. This location used to allow separate bills but now they don't, which is a let down. One bill was issued and we could pay with up to four credit cards. It's a pain to have to divvy up everyone's costs and collect money from everyone via different apps. Unfortunately, I think this is a mistake for Bistro Joe's, I wish they didn't change their policy. I will refrain from bringing large groups here in the future.
Pro tip: If you decide to come here as a large group who all pay for their own orders separately, I recommend that you bring cash so that you don't have to worry about paying the bill on different credit cards and sorting out who owes who what.
Everyone in my group enjoyed their food and cocktails. Our server was friendly and efficient. Again, the food was really great. Definitely a must try, I know I'll be back (just not with a large group).

Read moreI really had high hopes for Bistro Joe’s. I’ve been driving past it for years and finally decided to give it a try this weekend and was very underwhelmed. I will first highlight the good things that happened. I arrived for my reservation and was immediately seated and we were greeted by our server. Destinee was great and was the highlight of our visit at Joes.
Moving onto the bad, the first thing that happened was that me and my friend noticed a clicking noise and started smelling gas. We asked one of the servers about the clicking noise and they said it was the heater. I assume the heater was trying to ignite and couldn’t. The clicking lasted for several minutes, while the gas smell grew stronger. The table behind us got up and left because of the smell. We were about to leave and then the clicking sound stopped and the gas smell shortly started to go away.
When our food came it didn’t match the online description at all (also saw the same menu in the downstairs market). I got the berry bliss pancakes and my friend got the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. The berry bliss pancakes were regular pancakes with blueberry’s, no mascarpone, no vanilla cream anglaise, no berry coulit. The blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes were missing the creamy lemon ricotta. I got past the false advertisement. The last thing about the food is that there was a hair in my pancakes. When I cut into the pancakes there was a small piece of blond hair.
My meal was comped and I got new pancakes. The service was again great but the gas smell, underwhelming food and hair is the reason for...
Read moreJust dined in with an old friend recently and we did not enjoy ourselves. I have been in many times throughout the years and the place has definitely gone down hill with service staff and food quality. We had a younger male server that didn’t seem to know what he was doing. We were ignored for over 10 mins before we were greeted and it wasn’t even very busy yet. They were unable to make 2 of the cocktails we chose and the ones they were able to make took verrrrry long. Our entrees came out right after we received our over dressed salads that were missing quite a few of the ingredients listed on the menu. The server didn’t check on us for about another 25 mins and by that time we felt it was too late to let him know our orders were wrong. We were just ready for the check and to get out of the muggy dripping ‘indoor patio’ section we were sat in. We immediately left and went to another location in Birmingham for a decent glass of wine that wasn’t sour and old.The place isn’t the same and it seems to be falling apart, even the women’s restroom was a disaster, tp rolls just on the ground and broken dispensers. I’d suggest getting experienced staff and the owners investing in remodeling the place, it’s kind of embarrassing and an eye sore for Birmingham....
