Paper Doll POP — Restaurant in Birmingham

Just had a friend get thrown out of this bar for asking to pay our bill and leave. Let me be clear about exactly what happened: he went up to get another drink and noticed that the bartender was putting his friends’ drinks who were sitting at the bar on our tab. When we tried to close out, he insisted that we needed to finish our drinks before closing out (he wanted us to pay for more of his friends’ drinks, of course). With frustration, my friend finished his drink and when he set it down on the bar it fell off the back edge - the bartender watched this happen. He then accused my friend of THROWING his glass at him - which is simply inaccurate and completely untrue. Within 2 seconds we had about 7 bartenders/bouncers swarm us and escort us out of the bar which was unnecessary as we were just standing at the bar trying to close our tab. Nobody was yelling, fighting, or doing anything out of the ordinary. We all walked out of the bar with our hands up in confusion. We were there with our parents and family celebrating a 40th birthday. The fact that this employee would lie about what happened is out of line and totally inappropriate and makes Paper Doll look really bad. I hope this employee gets looked into for not only stealing from customers, but lying. Not necessarily a review of the establishment itself, but a review of the experience we had there and how we were treated.

From one business owner to another, I would want to know if my employees were dishonest and especially if they were stealing from...

The service was fine, cocktails were mediocre, but our experience was definitely the thing that would keep us from coming back. We attended a burlesque show recently and it seemed the bar was not prepared at all. While we were able to get "good seats" we noticed most people being forced to stand, even though the event was $20 per person. Not to mention there was a guy, wasted, who was literally grabbing at one of the women preforming. I thought staff would be a little more proactive about this. I dont recommend attending any event at this bar.

Edit for the owner; this was not a partner nor friend, just a very wasted patron of your bar. It's on your cameras, if you have any. He was laying down on the couches and grabbing at every girl that walked by, even if he didn't physically touch them. I do not feel it is MY responsibility to keep someone who is very clearly overserved from bothering other people and performers. Also there was nothing mentioned in person, or via ONLINE tickets that mentioned there would only be standing at some point. We waited over 30 minutes to just start an order. When we did order the server made sure to tell us that we weren't even his table and that he had just noticed we had been waiting for awhile. We order drinks and a cheese board. We waited another 30 minutes for the drink and an hour for the cheese board (we ordered another round of drinks before that). When we asked where the cheese board was the server acted like we had never ordered it. We asked for the check, got the cheese board and still 40 minutes later no check. We finally asked a different server for help getting a check only to see we had been charged for THREE cheese boards.
